WattUp Wire-Free Charging Technology Is What We All Need

by - on January 8th, 2015

Energous Corporation, or Energous for short, is the one behind WattUp. Got to love the wordplay on this for sure, as WattUp is best described to be a disruptive wire-free charging technology catering for electronic devices, where it will provide power from a distance with complete mobility under full software control. There are invite-only, wireless charging demonstrations that are being held during this year’s edition of CES, so if you haven’t quite done so, you might want to check them out.

The patent-pending WattUp solution will be offered in a couple of representations of future home environments over at The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. You will be able to enjoy Registered guests will experience unleashed wire-free charging in the two story apartment suites and see a demonstration of various electronic devices employing the WattUp technology, which has been integrated seamlessly into a common residential setting, providing the ability to charge a multitude of devices free of any wired connection or charging pad.

WattUp delivers intelligent, scalable power via the same radio bands as a Wi-Fi router. It differs from current wireless charging systems in that it delivers meaningful, usable power at a distance, allowing users to roam freely while charging. The technology has also been named a 2015 CES Innovation Awards Honoree in the Smart Home, Portable Power and Embedded Technologies categories.

Stephen R. Rizzone, CEO of Energous Corporation, “As a leading company in the development of true wire-free, uncoupled power with complete mobility, Energous is proud to be demonstrating our technology in model homes of the future. This event at CES 2015 marks a significant achievement for Energous and the industry in showing how wire-free charging can be deployed in everyday living environments. We believe we are the only CES exhibitor to be demonstrating true wire-free charging technology that lets users roam while their devices charge.”
