IronKey makes available 8GB drive

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

IronKey has just announced the availability of its 8GB secure USB device to the masses. Just how secure it is, you ask? For starters, this is a rugged, waterproof and tamper-resistant USB flash drive that boasts always-on hardware encryption, strong authentication, portable applications and a zippy memory to make those file transfers but a snap. With cross platform capability and remote policy enforcement, it makes it easy to deploy rapidly in heterogeneous environments while retaining complete control. The 8GB model will see it join the 1GB, 2GB and 4GB counterparts that are already in the market, providing double the storage capacity of its previous high flier.

If you have a portable drive that you carry around, there’s a good chance you’ve worried about your data being stolen, especially if you have sensitive information stored on it. There are a few ways you can keep it secure. While there’s no foolproof way to make sure that a thief won’t be able to pick it up and run off, you can make sure that they won’t get to your precious files. There are many methods from simple passwords to biometric locks, however, this is the first RFID-protective drive I’ve seen thus far.

Zoombak Pet and Auto Locator

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Gotta love that Hanson. They prophesized the Zoombak Pet and Auto Locator ten years before its release when they sang “Zoombak, Zoombak, Zoombak”. All right, I guess it was mmmbop, sorry.

Still, the Zoombak is worth singing about. The Zoombak is a GPS that is smaller than a deck of cards and weighs less than three ounces. Once it is activated, it releases a signal that someone can find 24/7.

Valuables stored in a can of soup

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

campbell-can-safe.jpgAt first glance, this can of Campbells soup might look pretty ordinary, but it is actually a safe that lets you store your petty jewelry without making it look like a prime suspect during a burglary. This will probably be the last place the thief will want to check, unless he is famished and has a love for canned soup. You ought to be able to store a fair amount of dough inside in rolls, so the £12.49 investment is well worth the price in terms of safety. You can also choose from the WD-40 or Sprite can safes.
