Phone watches banned from Thai exams

I had my good share of ways to cheat on exams when needed to, but it didn’t include any kind of “top-notch” technology, like it happened in Thailand. According to someone on the Ministry of Education, a student was caught cheating during an exam by using his phone watch - can you blame him?

Time Cube Clock

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

Okay, there are clocks, and there are kickin’ cool clocks. Then there is the Time Cube, which could easily be a step up from the kickin’ cool clocks category.

At first glance, you might thing the Time Cube is some time machine from the Victorian era. Kind of like that time machine in that recent Time Machine movie, the one with that guy in Memento. That movie wasn’t all that great, and this Time Cube won’t take you to the past or the future, but it will show you the present time.

The Time Clock starts out as a simple box, but then splits into triangles. The largest triangle shows the hours, the medium one shows minutes, and a quick-moving small triangle for the second hand.

If you have an iPod, chances are that you’ve noticed all the different makes, models and styles of different speaker sets for you to plug your iPod in to listen to your music. Some are alarm clocks, some are radios, but most of them run with either built in speakers, or wired speakers.

The Evolve speaker system comprises a charging base and two cube-shaped speakers. You can place the rechargeable Evolve cubes wherever you want to hear the music. You can even move them into the next room with you. There are no entangling wires to hassle with.

Clock-i saves wall space with convergence

Clock-i

I have a clock in almost every room in my house. Honestly, I’m not really sure why, as I generally just check the time on whatever computer I happen to be using. Still, I can’t bring myself to get rid of the old analog clocks that hang on my wall. Aside from clocks, you’ll also generally find pictures on most peoples’ walls. Now if you happen to live in a small apartment, you might be low on wall space, and to make the most of it, you might consider a clock that can also display your photos.

Tower Clock: another version of the gear clock

Monday, October 29th, 2007

Gear clocks, where the dial rotates on a little cog and shows the hour, are a pretty interesting design, and still rare and original. We’ve reported on one before, but that was not exactly a stylish time piece, but rather a big ring made of plastic.

This one comes as a small (17 cm tall) desk clock, with a turning square dial. This time design seems to be more of a focus than the novelty factor. You also get two clock faces: a Roman and a conventional one.

Discovery Space Projection Alarm Clock

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

Most alarm clocks are just that - ordinary looking timepieces that blend in with the rest of your home and do not leave any lasting impression on anyone who drops by. The Discovery Space Projection Alarm Clock is different though, as it offers a fun, futuristic and scientifically stimulating method to tell the time. In short, it projects both time and space images on a ceiling or wall.

  • Dual projecting lenses superimpose the digital time over the space image
  • Built-in alarm clock
  • Wake to one of 3 digital spaceship sounds: “Transport,” “Ping,” or “Analyze”
  • Clock has amber LED backlight illumination
  • 9-minute snooze button
  • Date/time display
  • Memory backup
  • Manual focusing knobs
  • You can pick up this unique timepiece for $29.95.
