VSP Global reveals the Level Smart Glasses

level-smart-glassesJust about everyone has a smartphone these days, where it is not only our primary communications device, it also doubles up as a very useful and convenient digital camera as well as music playback device and note taking (audio or written) capabilities. Well, why not make sure the rest of your portable ensemble is smart as well? If you happen to wear a pair of glasses, it is about time things change to usher in the future. VSP Global decided to add in some “smarts” into a pair of glasses, calling it the Level smart glasses.

The Level smart glasses will boast of activity-tracking technology that has been seamlessly embedded within the temple of an optical frame. This kind of technology will allow the Level smart glasses to track activity through an accompanying smartphone app, ensuring that users are able to reach daily step goals. Upon doing so, they pick up points that can then be redeemed for a donation of vision care services to individuals in need. How does that sound when it comes to being charitable?

Kate Renwick-Espinosa, president of VSP Vision Care shared, “We’re thrilled to bring Level smart glasses to market and offer our members an opportunity to apply their vision care benefits toward the purchase of a meaningful wearable device. Level combines expertise from the best of VSP Global’s businesses, including healthcare, fashion, technology and philanthropy. And we’re especially proud to launch Level in partnership with VSP network doctors.”

There are three unisex frame styles to choose from, where all of them have been produced in Italy, with the designs featuring hand-polished cellulose acetate, stainless steel accents and injection-molded temples. Each frame will arrive in four colors, namely black, classic tortoise, slate and grey tortoise. The Level smart glasses will retail for $270 a pop without its lenses, and final pricing will be based on lens enhancements, the application of vision benefits, and provider location.
