When it comes to smartphones, there are many different companies that roll out these highly sophisticated mobile devices that transform today’s road warriors into a mobile productivity unit. Each brand has its own range of devices, from the entry level to the mid-range, as well as the flagship model that will tout all of the bells and whistles to entice you into parting with your hard earned cash. Vivo of China has announced its NEX flagship smartphone which will boast of the first elevating front camera in the world, in addition to a truly bezel-less display, making it seem more like a portable TV than ever before.
The notch-free Ultra FullView Display is a fresh departure from regular flagship smartphone designs that we have come to accept as the “norm” ever since the iPhone X came out, as it fulfills the bezel-less dream while boasting of an industry-leading 91.24% screen-to-body ratio. This is made possible courtesy of different industry-first technologies such as the Elevating Front Camera.
However, do take note that there is no wireless charging capability attached to the Vivo NEX, which means you will still need to live a somewhat tethered lifestyle whenever you travel with it. Apart from that, the lack of a microSD memory card slot is somewhat disappointing, but chances are the average user will have no use for it anyway since it comes with 256GB of integrated memory in the first place, accompanied by 8GB of RAM and a snappy Snapdragon 845 chipset that should have more than enough processing firepower to handle all of your mobile productivity needs.
Apart from the flagship NEX S, there will also be a lower end variant of the NEX S, which will carry similar hardware specifications save for having half the amount of internal storage space. Last but not least, the NEX A will be the lowest end of the range with a Snapdragon 770 chipset, 6GB of RAM and a rear fingerprint scanner as opposed to a built-in one in the display itself.
