Toshiba proves that there is still innovation in USB flash drives

toshiba-usb-flash-driveToshiba is normally not a name that one would associate with USB flash drives, as these tend to be “small fish” in the world of consumer electronics. However, this does not mean that the Japanese firm does not look into such details. In fact, Toshiba has just unveiled new retractable and mini USB flash drives, which you might want to check out if you happen to be in the market for one of these puppies. Being released under the TransMemory product range, the two products are known as the TransMemory Retractable U362 Retractable Flash Drive as well as the TransMemory Mini U201 USB Flash Drive. The former, as its name suggests, happens to have a retractable design and super-fast USB 3.0 performance, while the latter has been specially optimized for USB 2.0 ports.

These innovative new products will see a better degree of performance if you happen to use plenty of USB flash drives in your course of work. For instance, the new TransMemory Retractable U362 USB flash drive will deliver up to 64GB of internal storage where it comes with a stylish metallic finish, making it perfect for designers, content creators, students and consumers who tend to work with large digital files. This is definitely a simple and efficient method when it comes to organizing, storing and moving data, where you will also benefit from a cap-less design and one-click convenience. All that you need to do is to click the end in order to expose the USB plug, and let the high-speed data transfer kick off.

As for the TransMemory Mini U201, this particular model will come with up to 32GB of storage space in an ultra-small size that is perfect for on-the-go data sharing, backups and transfers. Specially optimized for devices with USB 2.0 ports, you get USB plug and play simplicity, where it will play nice with both Mac and PC platforms. The TransMemory Retractable U362 Retractable Flash Drive will arrive in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities at $39.99, $69.99 and $99.99, respectively, while the TransMemory Mini U201 USB Flash Drive will come in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB for $11.99, $19.99 and $36.99, respectively.

  1. What exactly is innovative about these products? Retractable USB 3.0 drives have been out for 18 months +, sandisk do super hi speed ones with all these features. And 64GB is no longer the highest capacity either. Not trolling, just trying to work out what makes these drives special. Are they faster than everything else on the market?
