The STARY Electric Skateboard is lightweight and fast

Stary skateboard

People give a lot of crap to skateboarders, but have no idea how difficult it is to use a board on wheels. Just having a friend hold me upright and wheel down the sidewalk on one was terrifying enough. For those that do skate on the regular or use a board to get to work, it would be nice to have an electric component to aid you when you’re not feeling up to walking up inclines.

The STARY is an electric skateboard, but it’s not nearly as clunky or awkward as others that we have seen before. This only weighs 8.6 pounds, has no battery, and no motor. It uses a wireless remote with which you can move forward and speed up, or pull back and it will slow to a stop. When it is going, the speed it can do is nothing to snuff at. It can manage up to 18.6 miles per hour, and can go up a 30 degree incline.

The board is made of fiberglass, bamboo, and Canadian maple to make sure this is both tough and lightweight. It is said that this can be a great tool to learn how to ride on a regular skateboard as the drive wheel locks, keeping them in place. That way you only need to step on to start slip-free. All of the fancy components and mechanisms are inside of the wheel, and are made of metal rather than a belt which will often need to be replaced. The remote will need to be recharged, but that’s nothing new in the world of tech. This is going to cost you $499 if you want to hop onto this campaign.
