I may be a bit late to the party on this, but I’ve just come across Sony’s new VGN-UX1XN Ultra portable PC. What can I say – I want one! It’s similar in concept to the oqo line, but Sony have upped the spec considerably.
For your £2000 ($4000 – yikes!) you get:
- 4.5in, 1024 x 600 widescreen
- 1.3Ghz Intel Core solo CPU
- 1GB RAM
- 32GB flash memory storage
- Bluetooth, Wifi, USB and 2 cameras (front/back)
- Windows Vista
- A slide out backlit keyboard
The flash storage is cool, but the screen and CPU are the things that stand out for me. With that resolution and chip this might be a UMPC that’s actually usable in real world day to day life. Unfortunately with that price tag most of us are never going to get the chance to try. Sob.
