Sony rolls out seven new Bravia XBR LCD TVs

Sony is upping the ante by releasing seven new Bravia XBR flat panel LCD TVs to the mass consumer market, with certain models boasting TRILUMINOS LED backlight and local dimming for outstanding black-level reproduction and unmatched contrast. These new models would mean the Bravia LCD line would have touched 30 models – a definite headache for those who are out shopping for a flat panel display for their homes. Depending on your budget, there should be a Bravia for everyone since the screen size ranges from 19″ to a whopping 70″, with the latter running to 5 digits in terms of pricing, making it out of reach for most but the rich among us.

First off, we have the XBR8-Series to lead the charge with the full HD 1080p 55″ monster known as KDL-55XBR8 as well as the stunning 46″ KDL-46XBR8 models. Both models will feature Sony’s TRILUMINOS three-color LED backlight technology with local dimming coupled with 10-bit processing and 10-bit panel to deliver exceptionally deep black level and accurate colors. Here’s a little technical background on TRILUMINOS LED backlight technology – it supposedly dramatically expands the TV’s color range by aligning individual clusters of red, green and blue LEDs, significantly elevating color purity compared to traditional single white LED backlights.

Next up is the XBR7-Series which brings a mammoth 70″ KDL-70XBR7 and 40″ KDL-40XBR7 models that feature WCG-CCFL backlight, 10-bit processing and 10-bit panel, and ACE (Advanced Contrast Enhancer circuitry) to deliver outstanding picture quality and elegant style only BRAVIA can deliver. The former boasts BRAVIA ENGINE 2 Pro digital video processing, while the latter uses BRAVIA ENGINE 2 EX instead. Both of them will come equipped with Sony’s Motionflow 120Hz high frame rate technology and x.v.Color. Other features include the new 3D Favorite Multi-plane graphics, XMB graphic interface with TV Guide, BRAVIA Sync, DMeX and DMP compatibility.

You can check out all these models this fall – better start saving up today and get a second (or third) summer job.
