Samsung releases 3rd gen Blu-ray player

Samsung clearly signals its intention to support the Blu-ray camp by introducing the BD-P1400 Blu-ray disc player – the third generation of its kind. The BD-P1400 is no slouch when it comes to performance, boasting full compatibility with 24 movie frames per second playback. This works out great since most movies are filmed at 24 fps, hence the BD-P1400 is capable of playing back movies in their native format resulting in a significant reduction of unwanted artifacts at the same time.

In addition, setting the player’s Movie Frame (24Fs) feature to On enables customers to adjust the HDMI v1.3 output to 24 fps, resulting in a crisp, theater-like experience. Not only that, all of these players will also support 60Fs for enhanced compatibility with other HDTVs that are currently available in the market. Bitstream technology is also supported by the BD-P1400. Customers will be able to hook up the BD-P1400 to other HD compatible devices for a high level of A/V enjoyment in a cinch.

As everyone knows, watching a movie doesn’t just consist of great visuals – you can only experience it fully with equally great sounding audio. The Samsung BD-P1400 does not disappoint in this aspect, featuring advanced HD audio decoding, Dolby Digital and DTS audio playback, Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD for a variety of clear, full-bodied sound options. In addition, the HDMI v1.3 connection boasts HDMI CEC (Anynet+) technology that enables customers to use a single remote control to operate the BD player, TV and other A/V products from Samsung itself. Not only that, the BD-P1400 is able to up-convert standard DVD discs to full HD 1080p resolution courtesy of the HDMI connection, but be warned that the results will never measure up to a true blue Blu-ray disc.
