The Mollusc Tent changes the way you camp

Mollusc in action

When you’re looking to stay in the great outdoors, some form of shelter will be needed, and not many of us are loaded enough to have an RV. This means we’re likely to stay in a tent. The ones we’re most familiar with are those made of rip-stop nylon that have zippers which love to get stuck. They’re not exactly expensive per say, but oftentimes that is the reason they crap out sooner than they should.

If you want a tent that’s robust and will forever change your camping experience, then you might like the idea of the Mollusc. This is a tent with a retractable canopy, which means when the sun comes up and starts baking you inside the tent, you can open it with little to no effort and take in the view of all the nature around you. If you’re perfectly content with the internal temperature of the tent, then you can use the door on the opposing side to let yourself out.

The Mollusc is made up of a medium weight polyurethane coated polyester, nylon reinforced PVC for the base material, an aluminum door, steel and aluminum tubes, pegs, and spikes, and it can all pack down enough to fit in a small car. This can sleep 3 people very comfortably, and will take about 15 minutes for 2 people to set up, depending on how well you know what you’re doing. This is presently a crowdfunding campaign, but those interested in securing one would need to shell out $2,700 or more. More information about the construction and how to get your hands on the layout to make your own are found in the link below.
