Magellan Echo Fit includes sleep and step tracking

echo-fitNot all fitness and activity trackers are created equal, there needs to be a breakout model from time to time that will introduce a paradigm shift into the industry. Some manufacturers might prefer to take the route of miniaturization, such as the Goccia that has been touted to be the smallest activity tracker in the world. Well, Magellan has stepped forward by introducing the Echo Fit, which is a new device that will include both sleep and step tracking into its arsenal of sensors.

One would more often than not associated the name Magellan with GPS devices when it comes to vehicles, fitness, outdoor and mobile navigation, and it seems as though the company has decided to make yet another foray into the world of Smart Sports Watches, hence releasing the Echo Fit to the masses. The Echo Fit will continue from where the previous success and app support of the Echo left off, coming with it the aforementioned built-in activity and sleep tracking abilities now so that athletes will remain motivated between sports activities.

With each purchase of the Magellan Echo Fit, you will also be able to take advantage of the free Magellan Active app and website, where it makes the monitoring of one’s progress easy thanks to the introduction of daily goals, detailed analysis, and sharing capabilities.

Just what will the Magellan Echo Fit deliver to the table? For starters, it can monitor steps, distance and calories that have been burned throughout the day. Whenever you need to recover, the Echo Fit will inform you on the number of hours you have slept, resulting in a full and complete picture of the day. Thanks to wireless uploads to the Magellan Active app, users can now set daily goals, all the while keep tabs on their performance with the more sociable ones out there posting their progress onto the likes of Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

Expect the $149 Magellan Echo Fit to play nice with the latest model of iPhones and Android 4.4 KitKat-powered smartphones, while those who would want the accompanying Heart Rate Monitor would have to fork out another $50 more.
