The Kuchofuku Air-Conditioned Helmet will keep you cool in the summer sun

Air-Conditioned Helmet

There are some jobs in the summer that can be fun, but construction is not one of them. Not only are you out in the blistering heat (usually decently far away from any shade), but you’re toiling away with labor-intensive work around heavy machinery which is only putting off more heat. Needless to say, you’re going to want to find ways to keep cool.

While sunscreen and plenty of water is going to help you somewhat, it would be nice if you could have your own personal air-conditioner to carry around with you. That’s the general idea behind the Kuchofuku Air-Conditioned Helmet. This is a hard-hat that has a built-in fan to constantly put fresh air on the back of your head and neck. It is said to decrease your head temperature by 6.9°C (44.4°F) and humidity by 32%.

This is a battery-powered device, which means you’ll likely want to go for the rechargeable kind if possible unless you want to spend tons on replacements. There are two settings for the fan, being high and low. It’s made out of polyester and vinyl, and as its not being advertised, this might not be the most breathable material, which could be obnoxious if your fan stops working. This will cost you $181, but you’ll want to make sure the sound of the fan isn’t loud enough that it will overwhelm the sound of your coworkers.

  1. Hm, you need to work on your conversion skills – 6.9C temperature CHANGE does not equate to a 44F temperature change (you’re doing the calculation for *absolute* temperature 🙂

    It’s a 12.4F temperature CHANGE.

  2. You can add to this cooling fan a mister connected to a flask of water (1qt. or bit more capacity) that could be strapped on the body or belt and help cool this person down more…
