I-TEC Maverick Sport Flying Car

It’s nice to see flying cars like the Terrafugia Fusion, and it’s pretty clear that they are, if you will excuse the pun, getting off the ground.

This is the Maverick Sport, a flying car from a Florida company known as I-TEC, as you can see, there are no folding wings on this job, but a parachute. Normally, parachutes are used for softly falling to the ground, but this is a powered parachute that brings this dune buggy vehicle up in the air.

It can take off with just 300 feet of runway length at 40 miles per hour, and has a 140 horsepower Subaru engine for zero to sixty in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 90 mph. I have a video of it after the jump so you can see it for yourself.

You will note that in the video, it claims that the Maverick Sport is “a flying car that flies like a car”. I am assuming that is a reference to the ease of driving/piloting the thing. My source says it can be “driven with a regular driver’s license, or flown with a sport pilot’s license”.

I wouldn’t mind taking this out for an airborne spin myself. So far, I-TEC has not announced a price for this vehicle.
