Apple might not be all that great at coming up with an original idea with each new product that they released, but they are pretty savvy at taking existing ideas and polishing them to such an extent, that the ordinary becomes extraordinary, an object of lust. Take the iPad Pro for example – this new 12.9” tablet with Retina display (5.6 million pixels) offers groundbreaking performance with the new 64-bit A9X chip, making it a truly portable beast with all-day battery life, not to mention the ability to take advantage of over 850,000 apps in the App Store, it looks all set to forge new paths in productivity, design, illustration, engineering and medical, to education, gaming and entertainment while one is on the go. This is certainly a change from the regular iPad.
To complement the iPad Pro, Apple also took a step that the late co-founder Steve Jobs once avoided, which is, to include a stylus. Of course, Apple being Apple, they had to make it look so desirable and expensive at the same time, calling it the Apple Pencil for iPad Pro. The Apple Pencil is a precision input device which can be purchased separately, where it supposedly makes drawing and sketching feel remarkably fluid and natural. It will also feature a touch subsystem of the Multi-Touch display that has been specially redesigned in order to have it play nice with Apple Pencil, dramatically reducing latency and deliver incredible accuracy for activities like fine art illustration and detailed 3D design.
Not only that, the advanced sensors in Apple Pencil will also be able to measure both pressure and tilt for a fast and fluid drawing experience, whereas there is a built-in Lightning connector that makes for quick and easy pairing and charging. Expect Apple Pencil to be compatible with a slew of popular apps like Mail, Notes, Procreate and Office 365 for iPad.
Apple has also introduced a new Smart Keyboard that will further extend the utility of iPad Pro, making it a bona fide laptop replacement, as the Smart Keyboard delivers a full-sized keyboard in a thin, durable design that is highly portable. The Smart Keyboard itself comes covered in custom woven fabric, where there are keys which provide the accuracy, stability and satisfying key feel of standard keyboards.
Running on iOS 9, the iPad Pro will retail for $799 at the cheapest for the 32GB with Wi-Fi model, while those who want the Wi-Fi + Cellular 128GB model will have to fork out $1,079, with a choice of silver, gold and space gray colors from this November onward.
