Google Calendar goes mobile

Google Calendar Mobile

Recently, Google’s founders were quoted as saying that their goal was to use information to manage the every day lives of Google faithful. To that end, today on their blog, Google has announced that Google Calendar is now available for use on your average cellphone with an internet data package:

Since one of our main goals on the Calendar team is to make planning your events and maintaining your schedule as easy as possible, starting today, you can access your Google Calendar account from your cell phone!

Cellphone users can simply navigate to calendar.google.com from their phone’s internet browser and login, they will receive a very nicely formatted agenda of upcoming events, with details like date, time, location, description, and guest list. There’s also a “quick add” feature which allows users to add appointments on the fly.

But naturally, if you don’t have the monthly unlimited data package, you may end up paying alot more for the convenience, so make sure you adjust your service package to an unlimited use if you rely constantly on your calendar.

With cellphones getting smarter and PDAs on their way into the sunset of history, Google’s foray into cellphone based appointment management seems well timed to take advantage of a mobility obsessed culture.
