Garmin vivofit 3 activity tracker announced

vivofit3We do seem to be suffering from the dangers of living the good life, so much so that for many people over in the US as well as other developed countries, obesity is an issue. A fast growing (no pun intended) one, too. Garmin would like you to keep track of your activities throughout the day in the form of their latest activity tracker, calling it the Garmin vivofit 3.

The Garmin vívofit 3 is a daily activity tracker that will boast of a one-year battery life in addition to working alongside Garmin Move IQ. Specially built on the company’s popular activity tracker, the vívofit 3 will sport new features, where among them include Move IQ auto activity detection as well as intensity minutes. The vivofit 3 is able to capture activities such as walking, running, biking, swimming and elliptical training, where it keeps up with users throughout the whole day. Being designed for 24/7 wearability, it will be water resistant to 50 meters, has a one-year battery life, and can be personalized thanks to an array of colorful interchangeable accessory bands, designs from the Garmin Style Collection and new styles from the Jonathan Adler + Garmin line.

Just what is Move IQ all about? It happens to be a new feature that continuously monitors for periods of sustained activity, and the vívofit 3 is smart enough to automatically recognize walking, running, biking, swimming and elliptical training. As you access Garmin Connect, which is a free online fitness community, users can then analyze a complete picture of daily activities in a convenient Timeline view. Not only that, one can also track sleep patterns and trends, to join online challenges in order to compete against friends and earn virtual badges – definitely motivation of the right kind to keep on going, don’t you think so?

Expect the Garmin vívofit 3 to ship in Q2 2016, where it comes with a regular or extra large sized black band for $99.99 a pop, a regular sized white band for $99.99, and a regular sized dark camo band for $109.99.
