Dlodlo reveals first consumer grade VR glasses

dlodoDlodlo might be a wee bit more challenging to pronounce compared to other company names, but I suppose that it is here to stay, especially after it had gone forward to launch the first consumer grade VR glasses in the world over in the Big Apple. Dlodlo is a VR (virtual reality) equipment and platform developer, and its consumer VR product Glass known as the V1 will certainly turn heads.

Touted to be the first wearable VR headset of its kind in the world to boast of a real glass form design, the Glass V1 will be able to link up with PC devices or the integrated terminal on Dlodlo’s self-developed external interface, the D1. This particular solution will ensure that the technology barrier of VR equipment’s high requirement for PC hardware is broken, while delivering affordable VR equipment to the masses.

Sporting a compact and easy-to-wear sunglass design, it makes use of ultra-thin and highly-durable carbon fiber as well as skin friendly silicon materials. The Glass itself measures 16mm thin and it tips the scales at 78 grams, looking fine from the outside as well as being comfortable to wear, even for extended periods of time. As for the other hardware specifications, the Dlodlo Glass V1 will offer a resolution count of 2400 x 1200 pixels at 800+ PPI, a 105° field of view and 90Hz refresh rate. Making use of Dlodlo’s self-developed prediction algorithm, it will minimize most of the dynamic delay to greatly reduce the dizziness when users wear the glasses, all the while correcting distortion by itself so that it can improve user’s experience with visual contents.

Apart from its Glass VR1, Dlodlo has its very own VR content platform that boasts of a wide range of 3D videos, VR panorama and games selections to pick from. One can stream a whopping 658 videos, including 139 3D movies and 519 VR panorama clips, not to mention choose from 76 independent sports, action adventure and shooting games such as Basketball, Deep Space Battle and Lamper. There is no word on pricing as at press time.
