Electric cars could be the future, but for the moment, it would be gas-powered rides that will continue to dominate the automobile landscape, as there is plenty of work that needs to be done in order to make sure that the proper and necessary infrastructure is put up to cater for a city that runs on electric vehicles alone. Still, this should not be seen to be some sort of obstacle when it comes to working on new generations of electric vehicles – and Chevrolet themselves, with the Volt in the past, has come up with the Chevrolet Bolt EV concept that will offer over 200 miles on a single charge – with a starting price of approximately $30,000.
Chevrolet will leverage the electrification prowess that was earlier established by the Volt and Spark EV, where the Bolt EV concept has been specially designed in order to offer long-range performance across all 50 states – as well as in the numerous global markets that they intend to target.
In fact, drivers can select from various operating modes that have been specially designed around preferred driving styles, ranging from daily commuting to spirited weekend cruising, for uncompromising electric driving. The modes will adjust accelerator pedal mapping, vehicle ride height and suspension tuning, and it is also said that to make the Bolt EV concept more accessible to everyone, it has been specially designed to support DC fast charging.
The Bolt EV concept will also look stunning from all angles, sporting a unique proportion, with practically no front or rear overhang, which would allow it to make the most of interior space and it was specially designed to create a roomy environment for four which feels expansive. Some of the lightweight materials used include aluminum, magnesium, carbon fiber and even woven mesh, helping complement the design as the curb weight is dropped further to help maximize range. The future of electric vehicles look bright, don’t you think so?
