Honda Unveils Seated Indoor Transport Vehicle

You will all notice a pattern developing here. I just don’t care for exercise, I always drive by joggers, speed walkers, and bicyclists on the road and think to myself, where the heck are they going? In fact, I’m only up for hiking somewhere, if I’m going to see something pretty awesome, that I can’t drive to or fly over. Heck, I wish I had a little Segway I could tool around the house in…

Wait! Honda just came out with The UNI-CUB, an all-electric, self-balancing vehicle much like a small Segway, that utilizes a saddle instead of standing. The UNI-CUB cruises at about three miles an hour, for about 3 miles, and it can fold up for easy storage when not in use.

BikeGuard – QR Codes for Bike Recovery, will it work?

I have a relatively inexpensive bicycle, my husband wants us to spend more money and get some really fancy ones. I think he forgets about my less is more theory on exercise. I just don’t think having a deluxe bike is going to change how I feel about getting out in the elements and working up a sweat, and anyway, when you have a nice bike, someone will just want to take it… well, there goes that excuse.

MyAssetTag.com, is introducing us to BikeGuard, a new (and free) bike registry and identification program. This service provides its customers with free QR Code asset tags so folks can track and identify their bicycles, and since a bike is lost or stolen about every seven seconds, BikeGuard may just be part of reducing the challenge of locating and recovering bicycles for both the bike owners, and the police.

Fohawx – Making Safety Cool, one Helmet at a Time

My daughter hates to wear her helmet. She says its hot, it feels weird, and its not cool.  I always try to recount some horrendous emergency room scenarios that involve fracturedskulls and hundreds of stiches. She doesnt see how having your head cracked open is a whole lot less cool than an ugly helmet. I make her wear it, but I know she secretly grumbles about it behind my back.

The folks over at Fohawx know just how kids feel, inspired by their own little pain in… I mean kid, who also hated wearing his helmet. When the resourceful older sister glued a strip of colored papers down the center of  the helmet, a new idea was born. Check out Fohawx, a line of uber-cool accessories that attach to any of your kids safety helmets, transforming them into instant fashion statements.

TiGr Bike Lock

I have seen a lot of bike locks in the past, but most of them are pretty tricky when it comes to storing on the bicycle.

The TiGr is a titanium “bow” that its extremely flexible, and it has “lock claims flexibility, hack-proof strength, and a sexy design worthy of your ride”. It can stretch out to about five foot five inches, and then both ends lock together.

As you can see, it is one of those bikes that locks the wheels together so that no one can ride off with it. Personally, I like the type that lock up against something like a tree or a bar, but that is just me.

Is It a Scooter, a Bicycle, a Skateboard? No, It’s Sbyke !

So you feel like you’ve seen it all, there are bicycles, unicycles, skateboards and scooters, but nothing really new, nothing you could look at and say, cool, that looks like it could be fun.

Well, I had just such a reaction at the 2011 International Toy Fair in New York, when I was introduced to the Sbyke, a very cool, patented rear-steering scooter. See the video HERE. This product is receiving rave reviews from racing celebrities. In fact, Sbyke has already joined forces with the Michael Jordan of Motocross, Ricky Carmichael who is currently the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver, with the hopes of bringing the Sbyke into the racing pits.

The ElliptiGO combines running and biking

This is the ElliptiGO, a bike that combines running and cycling, designed for low-impact but high-output workouts.

It was created by a former cyclist and Ironman triathlete who suffered hip and knee injuries. The ElliptiGO is designed to help runners avoid “beating up their bodies through repeated impact” as well as “position riders ‘out of the saddle’ and using their weight to generate torque with every stride”.

A recent video of the Early Show that you can view at my Source link shows weatherman Dave Price riding it. While he is riding, he states that “it feels so natural” despite the ElliptiGO’s spokesperson saying “that’s not proper technique”. I have another video of it that you can watch after the jump.
