With the proliferation of the smartphone, you can more or less say that the dedicated MP3 player is dead, and so is the once popular portable media player. I mean, just take a look at the sales charts of the iPod touch and the more or less defunct iPod, and you will get what I mean. Hence, it is rather interesting to see how the SweetPea3 MP3 player has decided to make an appearance over on Kickstarter in order to raise enough funds for itself to launch. The SweetPea Toy Company is both the designer and manufacturer the SweetPea3 MP3 Player for Kids, and with that product being on the market for years already, it is high time for a refresh, hence the creation of the SweetPea3, an Android-powered device.
When it comes to portable speakers, there are just way too many brands out there that it can get pretty difficult trying to differentiate one from the other. Well, the folks over at BOOM Movement might be able to present a rather strong case for themselves with the SWIMMER portable Bluetooth speaker. This is no ordinary portable Bluetooth speaker, as it will also be shockproof and waterproof as well. Size certainly does not matter with the SWIMMER, considering how it comes in an extremely lightweight and compact form factor, sporting a bass-bumping design which will feature a flexible tail attachment that comes in handy when you want to hook, loop, wrap or grip it to just about any object that you put your mind to.
It goes without saying that companies should not be complacent, with their products requiring a refresh from time to time in order to keep up with the proverbial Joneses. Hence, we are already up to the Samsung Galaxy S4 and also the iPhone 5S, so it also makes plenty of sense that GoPro’s HERO has now arrived as the GoPro HERO3+, delivering a new era of personal content capture as well as sharing. What makes the GoPro HERO3+ so special from its predecessors? It is said to be 20% smaller and lighter in design, where there is also an improved battery life of up to 30% better compared to previous models. These upgrades will work in tandem with an improved lens and convenient new video capture modes, resulting in the most advanced and easy-to-use GoPro to date.
LG Electronics has announced a brand new speaker system which will boast a minimalist design while offering a huge audio boost to your home entertainment center, calling it the LG SoundPlate. Having revealed at CEDIA 2013, the LG SoundPlate, carrying the model number LAP340, is said to help usher in a new generation of home theater audio systems and it has been optimized for today’s flat-panel HDTVs.
Jay Vandenbree, senior vice president, home entertainment, LG Electronics USA, said, “The tradeoff for the ultra thin TV design has been smaller speakers, which has led to a surge in demand for supplementary home audio devices. We’re augmenting our already robust line of soundbars with the LG SoundPlate to give consumers yet another alternative for powerful home entertainment sound in a compact, attractive design.” So that’s how we know where they are coming from.
SOUL Electronics intends to deliver a new range of headphones to the masses, and have received the help of two sporting celebrities, Usain Bolt, the world’s fastest man, and also Tim Tebow. The new Combat range from SOUL Electronics have been touted to be the first-ever true over-ear and on-ear headphone range that was specially developed for athletic performance, hence their ambassadors. The Combat series has been designed to deliver premium-performance comfort as well as audio, where it will include the Combat+ Over-Ear Headphones, Transform On-Ear Headphones and Flex Sport Earphones, so that even those of you who happen to lead an extremely active lifestyle are able to tune in to your favorite songs while sweating it out.
When it comes to the world of speakers, there are just way too many different models to choose from. The thing is, if you are in for some wireless audio fun, you might want to check out a couple of offerings from iWALK – the new Sound Angle and Sound Angle Mini. Both of these will play nice with all Bluetooth equipped devices, where the speakers are more than capable of delivering heart pumping audio via a stylishly compact design. Needless to say, it will be a large step compared to conventional Bluetooth speaker designs; as the Sound Angle and Sound Angle Mini will take advantage of modish form factors alongside a bunch of joyful shades. The kind of design incorporated would seamlessly include both volume and track control buttons, in addition to a 3.5mm auxiliary input so that users who do not have Bluetooth-enabled devices are still able to use it to play music from such sources, such as older school MP3 players and DVD/CD players among others.
There are some days where you just want some peace and quiet. Most of the time though, you want to be listening to music, and lots of it. The method in which you listen to your tunes has to change quite frequently as you are often thrust into different situations. You can’t blast your jams through speakers on the bus, and there’s really no need to use headphones at home. While there are a myriad of different earphones, sound systems, and other eardrum-shattering ways to listen to music, wouldn’t it be nice if everything was all in one place?
At first glance, I thought that the Auris Skye was some sort of new Wi-Fi router or an equivalent device, but the innovative form factor delivers something else. The Auris Skye is actually a Wi-Fi music receiver for your dock which will allow you to live out a wireless lifestyle, as you stream your tunes without any cables through the “magic” of AirPlay or DLNA. This is an interesting bit of technology, where one is able to enjoy high resolution audio from your iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone or iTunes among others, without being limited by cables while having the full freedom to move around.
