Gillette Fusion ProGlide Men’s Razor Styler 3-in-1

  • Compact.
  • Battery powered.
  • Inexpensive.

We think the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Men’s Razor Styler 3-in-1 is perfect for traveling. It is very similar in design to the manual Fusion ProGlide razor whith a few more toys such as a motor and trimming combs. If you are looking for something compact and easy to use, without the hassle of charging (battery powered), this is the “best option a man could get”.

How We Picked

There are hundreds of beard trimmers to choose from. Which one is right for you?

If you aren’t careful, you can be swayed by marketing campaigns designed to convince you that they have the best beard trimmers. They’ll push multi-speed, multi-adjustment, titanium blades, lithium batteries, self-oiling (not real), automatic cutting (not real), beard trimmers on you.

They’ll put a clean-cut guy next to a beautiful model who is stroking his freshly trimmed beard. And if you aren’t careful, you’ll fall into the trap of being like him.

That’s not what we’re going to do. Instead, we’re going to show you the best beard trimmers – without any marketing. We researched a lot of trimmers, and these are the ones that we’ve found offer the best return on your value.

If you’ve been searching for the best beard trimmer, this is the list you’ve been looking for.

Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer with Vacuum, 7200 Series

Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer with Vacuum

So, we’re going to start out with an amazing beard trimmer – the Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer with Vacuum.

Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 7200 series

This is a great option for anyone looking to get a new beard trimmer. Philips has done a good job of loading every feature possible into such a compact, sleek beard trimmer. It is cordless, but it can be used even if the battery is dead through the use of the included charging cable.

Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer with Vacuum after shaving

The Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer with Vacuum (7200 Series) is built to handle all of your trimming needs, not just your beard. It is designed to give you clean, consistent results time-and-time again. Plus, it can handle the “details”, if you catch our drift. And while this is not the most affordable beard trimmer, you really get a TON of features.

Philips Norelco 7200 series close-up

Your wife will love the first feature – a built-in vacuum cleaner. There won’t be any more stray hairs on in the sink (no more beard bibs for you). The vacuum pulls the hairs into a clear container just under the trimming head. Once you’ve finished your trimming session, you simply remove the container and empty into the trash (or sink/toilet).

Another feature that you’ll love is the ability to adjust the trimming length. And the Philips Norelco (7200 Series) has 20 different lengths to work with. You can make adjustments from 0.5mm (0.019 inches) to 10mm (0.393 inches), in 0.5mm increments.

Self-sharpening Blades

The blades are self-sharpening, which is a GREAT feature. Some blades dull over time, leading to an uncomfortable trimming session. If you have sensitive skin, this will help reduce razor burn and other skin irritation.

Philips Norelco 7200 series blade

And finally, the battery lasts for an INSANE 80 minutes on a single charge. And by using lithium-ion batteries, you really get full power for a total of 80 minutes. Some cordless trimmers get weaker as the battery loses charge, but this Norelco Beard Trimmer just keeps plowing along. Charging the beard trimmer takes roughly an hour. And if you let the beard trimmer battery die, you can still use it with the included charging cable.

What’s In The Box?

Besides the beard trimmer, you also find five different tools. They are:

  • Standard Trimmer Head
  • Adjustable Beard Comb
  • Detail Trimmer Head
  • Two Extra Combs

Plus, you’ll get the included charging cable.

Brio BeardScape Beard and Hair Trimmer

Brio BeardScape Beard and Hair Trimmer

The Brio BeardScape Beard and Hair Trimmer comes from a “new” manufacturer, which can make some people stay away. And while we understand the reluctance to use a “no name” manufacturer, this is one trimmer that is worth it (and it is pricey).

The Brio BeardScape Beard and Hair Trimmer is built to handle beard without any problems. But it is also designed as a manscaping tool too.

Brio BeardScape Beard and Hair Trimmer accessories

Getting right into what separates the Brio BeardScape Beard and Hair Trimmer from the rest of the pack, it uses ceramic blades instead of stainless steel. Ceramic blades are four times harder than stainless steel and less prone to failure over time. Ceramic also distributes heat better, and any man who has ever shaved know how it feels when the metal guard and/or blades get hot. And, the ceramic blades aren’t nearly as loud as their steel counterparts. And the blades can be adjusted from 1.3mm (0.051 inches) to 1.9mm (0.074 inches), in 0.3mm increments.

Brio BeardScape Beard and Hair Trimmer blade close-up

The blade speed can be adjusted from 5,000rpm to 7,000rpm which a simple +/- adjustment just under the blade height adjustment lever. This is good when you get into some “rough” situations. At 5,000rpm there might be a little tugging on thicker hairs, but at 7,000rpm, the tugging seems to go away.

The LCD Display

Another great feature of the Brio BeardScape is the built-in LCD display. The display shows when the clipping head needs to be cleaned (or oiled), how long the battery has left, and the actual speed of the cutting blades.

BeardScape LCD Display

The Brio BeardScape can last up to 4 hours (240 minutes) on a SINGLE charge. For cordless trimmers, this is pretty amazing. Even better, it only takes about 3 hours to recharge your beard trimmer.

It can be used in the shower as it is waterproof/cordless. If you need to do a little manscaping, you can easily get “down” in the hardest to reach places without too many problems (the head is a little wider than normal). Cleaning the unit is simple too as all you need to do is turn it on and place it under running water. When you are finished cleaning the trimmer, just oil the blades and set it aside.

What’s In The Box?

Besides the beard trimmer, you also find:

  • Four reversible clipper heads (1/2mm, 3/6mm, 9/12mm, and 15/18mm).
  • A charging base.
  • A USB plug and charging cable.
  • A cleaning brush.
  • Some lubrication oil.
  • Stylish travel bag.

Brio BeardScape Beard and Hair Trimmer

  • 4 hours of runtime of a SINGLE charge.
  • Battery life display.
  • Ceramic blades instead of stainless steel.

Braun BT3040 Beard Trimmer

Braun BT3040 Beard Trimmer and Fusion ProGlide Razor

The Braun BT3040 Beard Trimmer is packed full of features while being one of the lightest trimmers we’ve seen. And more than being one of the lightest trimmers, it’s pretty easy on the wallet too.

The Braun BT3040 Beard Trimmer is an affordable beard trimmer that has more features than the price alludes to. It is designed to be versatile and convenient, while still providing a consistent beard trimming experience.

Braun BT3040 Beard Trimmer wheel for setting length

Jumping right in, the Braun BT3040 Beard Trimmer has 39 precision cutting settings, adjustable in 0.5mm increments – 39 precision cutting settings! If you needed control, this is some serious control. You can cut your beard, shave your head, your body – whatever you want. If you don’t like how long your hair is, change the height, and fix it.

Braun BT3040 Beard Trimmer guards

Next up, the Braun BT3040 Beard Trimmer is cordless, which is great for traveling and just general use. You don’t have to worry about a cord getting caught on something on your countertops or knocking something over. The battery lasts around 60 minutes on a single charge, but it takes about 8 hours to get a full charge. And if the battery does die, you can still use the beard trimmer with the included charging cable. As far as an onboard power meter display, you are left with an LED battery indicator – that’s it. One notable feature is the ability to work with voltages between 100V and 240V.

Braun BT3040 Beard Trimmer

Cleaning

Cleaning the Braun BT3040 Beard Trimmer is easy since it is waterproof. Just turn it on, place it under running water, and VOILA! There is an included cleaning brush in case you need to get in deeper for those more stubborn hairs. Braun doesn’t include any lubricating oil for the cutting blade, and we aren’t sure if they think it is necessary, but finish your cleaning by lubricating your cutting blade.

Overall

The Braun BT3040 Beard Trimmer is a great, economical beard trimmer with enough features to hold its own against the competition. It will last about 60 minutes on a single charge, but it will take a LONG time to recharge – thankfully, it runs while plugged in too. With the included accessories, you’ll be hard-pressed to find another more budget friendly beard trimmer than the Braun BT3040 Beard Trimmer.

What’s In The Box?

Besides the beard trimmer, you also find:

  • Beard trimming comb.
  • Hair clipping comb.

One thing we noticed is that it does not include cleaning oil for lubricating the cutting blades.

Braun BT3040 Beard Trimmer

  • Insane number of precision settings – 39!
  • Cordless, but works with the cord too.
  • Long battery life.

Philips Norelco OneBlade Trimmer

Philips Norelco OneBlade Trimmer

Philips Norelco has changed up the game when it comes to beard trimming. The Philips Norelco OneBlade Trimmer uses ONE blade to manage your beard, and the blade lasts for up to six months. In fact, it works as an electric shaver and a beard trimmer – in ONE package.

Someone using the Philips OneBlade for Trimming

The Philips Norelco OneBlade is an innovative new way to trim your beard and other body hair. It is an affordable option starting out, but the replacement blades aren’t so much. If you have a super-thick beard, this may not be the best option as the motor isn’t that powerful. For the average beard it should be more than fine though.

The OneBlade Trimmer looks pretty cool, using high contrasting colors (gloss black/silver/lime green), along with futuristic styling. But the OneBlade is more than just looks, it can cut some hair!

Philips OneBlade Trimmer blade close-up

The OneBlade has teeth/micro-blades that move left-to-right at 200 times per second (6,000rpm). The way it cuts is by letting the hairs fall into the teeth, rather than being pulled down. The cutting blade is replaceable and should be replaced every four to six months (remember, the blades aren’t too cheap).

Philips Norelco OneBlade for shaving

Shave Down to Skin Level (if you want)

The Philips Norelco OneBlade Trimmer is designed to cut your beard down to the skin level (if desired), or to one of three heights (3/64”, 1/8”, or 3/16”). This is better suited for someone looking to maintain a clean five o’clock shadow, a tight edge on your mustache, beard, or goatee. It can also be used to keep your other “special” areas neat and tidy too.

This is not a very quiet razor, as there isn’t much body to absorb the sound of the motor and the blade. The razor is not built for thicker or longer beards and might seem underpowered if used for such.

Philips OneBlade shaving attachment

The battery is designed to last for 45 minutes on a single charge, but charging the Philips Norelco OneBlade can take up to 8 hours! It is not designed to run while it is being charged, so make sure you keep it charged.

Cleaning the Philips OneBlade

Cleaning the OneBlade is easy as it is waterproof. As with all the other waterproof beard trimmers, just place it under water and let the water do the work.

Overall

The OneBlade is great for small detail work and fine/medium thickness beards. It is not designed to maintain longer, thicker beards at all. If you need something for longer, thicker beards, there are plenty of other options listed here for you to look at.

What’s In The Box

  • Trimmer.
  • Replacement blade.
  • 3/64” stubble comb.
  • 1/8” stubble comb.
  • 3/16” stubble comb.
  • Battery charger adapter.

Philips Norelco OneBlade Trimmer

  • Great for wet/dry shaving.
  • Nearly maintenance free.
  • Lasts 45 minutes on a single charge.

Philips Norelco Beard and Head Trimmer, Series 5100

Philips Norelco Beard and Head Trimmer, Series 5100

The Philips Norelco Beard and Head Trimmer (Series 5100) is great for anyone that doesn’t want to spend a TON while still being able to trim your beard, your head, and your body.

Starting things off, the Philips Norelco (Series 5100) used a Dynamic Beard Guide System (DBGS) to help trap longer hairs that tend to get left behind. Unfortunately, while great in concept, it’s not great in use – you still have to make multiple passes to get the stragglers.

Philips Norelco Series 5100 setting wheel

Now that the DBGS has been mentioned, let’s get to what works great for the Philips Norelco (Series 5100). Philips Norelco uses a new feature called Dual Sided Technology. They’ve managed to include two different cutting heads into ONE head. On one side of the trimming head, it handles everything like any other trimming head. But on the other side, the trimming head it more detailed, and is perfect for cutting those sharp edges and other shaping needs.

Trimming with the Philips Norelco Series 5100

Plus, the cutting length can be adjusted to 17 different lengths through a unique ZOOM wheel. Adjustments can be made from 1/64” to 1/2”. For clipping hair, there are two clipping combs – one for short hair (0.4/7mm) and one for long hair (7mm/13mm). And, there is another comb specifically for body hair.

Somone shaving with the Philips Norelco Series 5100

The motor of the Philips Norelco (Series 5100) is overbuilt. No matter what the thickness of your hair, the 5100 will cut through it. And since it is powered by a lithium-ion battery, it will have the juice to push through a fairly grueling trimming session.

Speaking of lithium-ion batteries, the Philips Norelco (Series 5100) will last almost 70 minutes on a single charge. Plus, it only takes about 60 minutes to recharge. And if you run out of battery life, you can still use the included charging cable to finish up any unruly hairs.

The blades are self-sharpening and made of stainless steel. Philips claims that these blades require no maintenance at all, due to their double sharpened design.

Cleaning the Philips Norelco Series 5100

Cleaning

Cleaning the Philips Norelco Beard and Head Trimmer (Series 5100) is easy since it is waterproof. Just throw it under some running water and wait. If you still find some hair on it that seems more stubborn than the others, just pull out the included cleaning brush and brush it out. After you’ve finished, just let it air dry.

Overall

Considering the price point of the Philips Norelco (Series 5100), you’ll find it hard to find a close competitor. Philips Norelco has carved out its niche in the trimmer/electronics niche, and they have proven it again with this trimmer. The motor is powerful, the trimmer has numerous adjustments, the battery lasts a long time, and it has plenty of accessories to optimize your hair trimming experience.

What’s In The Box

  • Trimmer.
  • Beard comb.
  • Body comb.
  • 2 hair clipping combs (0.4mm – 13mm)
  • Cleaning brush.

No cleaning/lubrication oil is included with the Philips Norelco Beard and Head Trimmer (Series 5100).

  • Lasts 70 minutes on a single charge.
  • Only takes 60 minutes to recharge.
  • Super easy to clean and maintain.

Remington Virtually Indestructible Haircut and Beard Trimmer, HC5855

Remington Virtually Indestructible

Remington has created a hair and beard trimmer that is unbreakable. It comes with a lifetime limited warranty which is unheard of for small electrical components like this. If you tend to be a little clumsy, then this is definitely an option you should consider.

This is the first corded beard and hair trimmer that’s made our list. Even so, this Remingto Trimmer can hold its own fairly well.

Remington HC5855 accessories

Loads Of Accessories

Remington absolutely loaded everything they could into the box with this one. They managed to include over fifteen pieces of cutting magnificence into this package. Not only do you get everything you need to make consistent, clean cuts, but you also get a beard brush and a styling brush too.

Remington Virtually Indestructible measurements

Because it is corded, there is no battery and therefore no battery life expectation. While this does make it a little less “convenient” for travel, it’s not a deal breaker. The Remington Virtually Indestructible Haircut and Beard Trimmer has a super strong motor and manages to stay quiet due to the thicker, more robust body design. The body is made of high-impact polycarbonate and has rubber all over the place for added grip and extra bump support.

Remington Virtually Indestructible internals

The blades are self-sharpening, fully removable, and fully interchangeable with other blades from Remington, including the T-Blade for more precision-style cuts. If you need to clean your Remington Trimmer, just use the included cleaning brush to knock down as much hair as possible.

Removing the blade of the Remington Virtually Indestructible

Overall

The Remington Virtually Indestructible Haircut and Beard Trimmer is not cordless, which is a drawback of sorts. But they do include an 8-foot power cord to give you a little more freedom. Where it really shines in its ability to outlast accidental slips and falls. If you want a beard trimmer with a little more resiliency than other trimmers, the Remington Virtually Indestructible Beard Trimmer is a great buy, especially at this price.

Gillette Fusion ProGlide Men’s Razor Styler 3-in-1 Body Groomer and Beard Trimmer

Gillette Fusion ProGlide Men’s Razor Styler 3-in-1

Gillette is known for their razors, specifically the Fusion ProGlide. What they may not be known for is their 3-in-1 body groomer. But this is a great groomer and beard trimmer, especially at this price point. Traveling just got a whole lot easier and this is truly one of “the best a man can get”.

Gillette Fusion ProGlide 3-in-1

Starting out, let’s point out that this falls into the cordless category. Instead, it runs on a non-rechargeable battery. For what it costs, that’s expected. They do include a battery in the packaging, which is nice since you don’t have to go and buy a pack of batteries to start with. But don’t buy the cheap “dollar brand” batteries for this. Instead, spend a little money and get some long-lasting, high drain batteries if you want to get the most out of the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Men’s Razor Styler 3-in-1 Body Groomer and Beard Trimmer.

Whew, that is a name!

But it helps to accurately explain what this is capable of. It comes with four attachments, allowing you to shave from skinlevel and up to 3mm length. You can take care of all of your body needs, and your beard, from one compact trimmer (and it really is small). For travelling, this is the best option on our list.

Gillette Fusion ProGlide 3-in-1 without gards on blade

The motor is from Braun, which is another brand that made our list. It will cut through most hair (thin to medium) without any issues. If you have thicker hair, it may take longer (more passes) to get the look you truly want.

Gillette Fusion ProGlide 3-in-1 guard attached

Because it is similar in design to the manual ProGlide razors, it is easy to maneuver. In fact, it is probably the easiest to use when compared to other trimmers, especially in tight spaces.

Overall

For someone looking at a great all-in-one option, the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Men’s Razor Styler 3-in-1 Body Groomer and Beard Trimmer is all you’ll need. At the price, there’s not much more you can ask for.

Remington PG6171 the Crafter

Remington PG6171 the Crafter

Another Remington option has made it to our list. This time it is the Remington PG6171 (The Crafter). This is a great option for beards, heads, and bodies. They manage to pack the box with 11 accessories and even gave you a travel bag to make storage even easier. For the price, this is one feature-packed, compact trimmer.

The Remington PG6171 (The Crafter) is built for everything – beards, heads, and bodies.

Remington PG6171 the Crafter trimming guard

Starting out, Remington made sure that you would have everything you need to “craft” the perfect look, no matter where you are cutting. With 6 guide combs and other specialty trimmers, you can cut those edges, shine your head, clean your nose and ears, and still get the other “down under” spots too. Changing out the combs is a breeze and the blades are super sharp and self-sharpening.

As this is a cordless option, the battery life matters. And the Remington PG6171 (The Crafter) is able to work for three hours on a single charge (very impresive). Plus, if you manage to drain the battery, there is a 5-minute quick charge option to get you back up and running. It will not run while attached to the charging cable.

Remington PG6171 the Crafter measurements

Cleaning the Remington PG6171 is fairly simple as it is waterproof. Place it under running water, clean out any hair debris, and let it air dry. Nothing else to do – no lubricating oil or anything.

Remington PG6171 the Crafter blade close-up

It does include a 2-year limited warranty, but it will feel like it will last a lot longer than that. This is a quality trimmer that can handle almost anything you can throw at it. It’s not expensive, but it works just as well as some of the more expensive competing options. Remington builds quality components and the “The Crafter” is no exception.

What’s In The Box

  • Trimmer
  • 6 guide combos.
  • Ear trimmer.
  • Nose trimmer.
  • Detailer.
  • Mini foil shaver.
  • Travel Case.

Conair for Men Beard and Mustache Electric Trimmer

Conair for Men Beard Trimmer

Conair makes some great hair management products and the this electric trimmer is no exception. This is a very budget-friendly option for anyone who needs JUST a beard and mustache trimmer. It’s a no-frills solution at a great price.

Conair designed a compact, lightweight, durable beard trimmer and kept it as simple as possible. They did not load it down with a lot of bloat (features), but they didn’t need to. The Conair for Men Beard and Mustache Electric Trimmer is easy to use without all the extra gadgets and other fuss.

Conair for Men Beard packaging

They included three combs with the trimmer itself. The first two are for jawline work while the latter is for positional cutting using five different lengths (fully adjustable).

The blades are stainless steel and durable. They easily cut through thick hair, especially when combined with the STRONG motor. Corded beard trimmers like the Conair Electric Trimmer tend to have stronger motors than their cordless counterparts. The cutting head is not as wide as some of the other trimmers that we’ve looked at.

Conair for Men Beard blade close-up

Cleaning this beard and mustache trimmer is fairly easy, as all you need to do is detach the blades and clean them off (or replace them completely).

Conair for Men Beard Trimmer and accessories

Overall

The Conair Beard and Mustache Trimmer is an all-purpose solution as a budget-friendly price. It is not loaded down with a lot of features or attachments, but it will do the job consistently without giving you a lot of problems. If you don’t need a lot of extra features and tools, this is a great option that you should truly consider.

What’s In The Box

  • Trimmer

That’s it… only the essentials.

Buyer’s Guide To Find The Best Beard Trimmer

Price

A beard trimmer can have all the features a man could dream of, but if it costs too much, it won’t matter. Especially when other competing brands have something “close” at a better price.

All of our beard trimmers are priced between $20 to $60, which is a good price range to work with. There are some trimmers, which didn’t make the cut, that cost well above $100.

Our guide has already factored in the pricing aspect.

Power Source

Next is the power source – corded or cordless.

How your beard trimmer is powered matters. A corded beard trimmer generally has a more powerful motor, which makes it easier to cut through thicker hair without snagging or pulling. But it does have a cord which, at times, might not be long enough. Or, the cord can simply become a nuisance when it hits stuff on the counter or knocks it off completely.

Cordless beard trimmers don’t have those pesky cords. Instead, they run off of internal batteries. Because cordless beard trimmers run off of internal batteries, their motors generally aren’t as strong as their corded counterparts. Which means you may get a little more tugging when you are using them. But cordless beard trimmers have a charge life. When the battery is dead, so is the trimmer – until you recharge it. If you are in a hurry, this could be a problem, especially since most cordless beard trimmers won’t work if the battery is dead (even when they are plugged in).

Also, cordless beard trimmers are almost always waterproof. A corded beard trimmer isn’t waterproof since you are connected directly to a power source; one exposed wire could send you to the hospital in a hurry. Of course, a waterproof beard trimmer is always going to be easier to clean, as you can run it while using water to clean it out/off.

Cordless beard trimmers are easy to transport as they don’t have extra wires to keep up with. While this may not be a deal breaker, it’s less you have to keep up with.

Power Level Display

So, a power level display only applies to a cordless beard trimmer, but if your beard trimmer doesn’t have one, you are trimming blind.

A power level display ensures you know how much time you have left before the beard trimmer needs to be recharged. Some displays are simply a few LED’s whereas others have a more user-friendly digital display.

If you don’t want to be caught with your pants down, a power level display can be a lifesaver. When you see it getting close to empty, you can put it back on charge so you aren’t left holding a heavy paperweight.

Remember, a cordless beard trimmer most likely won’t work when the battery is dead (or when dead and hooked up to a power source).

Time To Charge

Again, this will only apply to cordless beard trimmer, but how long it takes to fully charge your trimmer matters.

If you use your cordless beard trimmer frequently, the time to charge may be problematic. Some trimmers are built to work on a short, quick charge whereas others really don’t work too well unless they are fully charged.

Charging times vary from device to device, but their range is generally between 1 hour and 12 hours. If you knew you would have to charge your device overnight every time, would you still want it? Which is why we considered this in our picks.

As a side note, corded beard trimmers don’t have this problem – as long as you have power in your home, your corded beard trimmer will work (no wait times).

Time On A Single Charge

Cordless beard trimmers have a major disadvantage to corded beard trimmers – their batteries only last so long before they run out of juice.

Since cordless beard trimmers use a battery for their power, it would make sense to find one that lasts a long time. No one wants a single-use beard trimmer. For those traveling, long battery life can be a lifesaver. Especially when you are driving and/or flying a need to get rid of the five o’clock shadow.

While a corded beard trimmer doesn’t have a battery life issue, it can’t be used unless it is plugged in, which isn’t always possible when you are traveling.

Adjustable Speeds

Some beard trimmers come with different speed settings.

Depending on your hair type, the area you are trimming, your tolerance to tugging, etc., the speed can matter. The slower a beard trimmer cuts, the more likely it will tug on your hairs – especially if the hair is thick.

Most men like the faster settings (more speed, more power, MORE everything). But, having the ability to adjust the speed of the cut can increase the comfort of the beard trimmer. If you like adjustability, look for a trimmer with adjustable cutting speeds.

And while we’re talking about adjustability …

Adjustable Guides

While men tend to stick to one style, especially when it comes to their beards, having the ability to cut a little more off (or a little less) should be an option.

Beard trimmers that allow you to adjust the guide/length of cut are more versatile that non-adjustable beard trimmers. Unless you know that you’ll never change the length of your beard and/or other areas, find a beard trimmer that has adjustable guides.

And we’re still not done talking about adjustability …

Interchangeable Guides

Sometimes, it’s not the guide that is adjustable, but rather the guides are interchangeable. Why would interchangeable guides be an option? While adjustable guides work great, they will age over time (as will anything that you use frequently).

But interchangeable guides are generally less costly when compared to adjustable guide replacements. Again, having the ability to change your length of cut easily is a great option to have. In most cases, we prefer having the ability to change out the guides versus making an adjustment.

Accessories

You’ve probably heard that “accessories make the outfit” – from a woman, of course. But, accessories matter. And in the case of a beard trimmer, accessories can help out dramatically.

Beyond adjustable and/or interchangeable guides, you might need a nose trimmer or an ear trimmer. Would it be easy if your beard trimmer had those attachments with it (or the option)? What about a travel kit or a battery docking station versus just a charging cord?

If we were going to make a change to the saying earlier, we would say that “accessories make a good thing great”.

Easy To Clean

Earlier we mentioned that cordless beard trimmers are easy to clean, and they are. If they have power, they can be placed under running water while turned on, which makes it easier to remove debris.

Still, you may have to take your beard trimmer apart, corded or cordless, to get everything out. Once you’ve cleaned your beard trimmer, you’ll still need to apply oil to the blades. Oiling the blades will help to extend their life and lead to a sharper, cleaner cut.

Is It Just For A Beard?

And finally, is your beard trimmer going to be used just to trim your beard?

Not all men trim just their beards. In fact, some use their beard trimmers to take care of their body hair and other regions. When considering a beard trimmer, consider how you intend to use it.

Looking back at our guide, having the ability to adjust the length of cut, and the speed of the cut will matter greatly if you aren’t trimming just your beard.

So, that’s our buying guide for beard trimmers. We believe we’ve covered everything that matters, and each one of these factors was considered for the trimmers we listed above. Following this guide, you’ll easily find the perfect beard trimmer for your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How easy is it to clean beard trimmer?

A: If the beard trimmer is cordless, cleaning is super easy. Just turn the cordless beard trimmer on and place it under running water. Most of the debris will be removed.

If the beard trimmer is corded, you cannot use running water to clean out the hair and debris. Instead, you’ll need to use a brush to remove the debris.

After cleaning your beard trimmer, corded or cordless, you’ll need to apply oil afterwards.

Q: Isn’t an electric shaver the same as a beard trimmer?

A: No. An electric shaver is designed to cut hair down as close as it can. They used spinning blades, or crosscut blades, to cut hair. They generally have a foil guard to protect the skin, but they don’t have height adjustments.

A beard trimmer is designed to cut larger, longer hairs. In most cases, you cannot cut as close of a cut with a beard trimmer as you can with an electric shaver.

Q: Can I use a beard trimmer on other “special” areas?

A: Most beard trimmers are able to handle the “special” areas without any issues. In fact, some come with special accessories to help make trimming those areas safer.

Q: Can I use a beard trimmer to shave my head?

A: Absolutely! Hair trimmers generally have stronger motors, but it is possible to use a beard trimmer to shave your head. It might take a little more time, but it can be done.

Q: Can I use a beard trimmer in the shower?

A: If your beard trimmer is cordless, yes you can. If it is corded, absolutely not!
