60” wood frame full HD TV

Wood LCD

Apparently we’ll soon have to create a new category called ‘wooden gadgets’. After the wooden iPod cover and cellphone, here’s a TV that would fit the Plasma Lift perfectly.

Remember the old times, when TV’s were flickering CRT’s in a wooden case? The wooden TV has returned, albeit as a full HD (1920×1080 pixels) LCD panel, timeshift included.

The LG Full HD PDP ’60PT1DRA’ is a new device presented by LG at the KoreaIT Show 2007. It doesn’t have a full wood case, but you can choose between a walnut or ash frame. With a diagonal of 60”, its size should be enough for almost any living room, and the ‘third generation Time Machine’ technology can record your shows or movies (in HD, of course) on the included hard drive, while watching another HD channel.

Impressive, huh? Sadly, so is the price: it will set you back a hefty $10.675

  1. Looks like a future D.I.Y. project in the works. The main issue may be dispersing all the heat generated from a plasma screen.

  2. well, this device only has a wooden frame in the front.. on the backside it’s still plastic.
also, it’s a LCD rather than a plasma.. and LCD’s are better off anyway..

you might not get that huge contrast from all of them, but there are some who make it… plasma has big downsides to compensate for its qualities…

luckily, we won’t have to wait for too long before OLED TV’s will become affordable… and that will really be nice… the screen will be just glued onto a board if you like 🙂
