The 3D Sound Labs One: 3D Headphones – bring the noise

3D Sound One

When you get to be so immersed in what you’re doing, the rest of the world falls away. You forget about whatever else might be on your schedule, what needs to be done tomorrow, and you embrace the present. While it’s happening, it’s rare to notice and appreciate, but it is possible. We can’t go off on nature adventures where you “find yourself”every week, so we dive into things that can distract us from the ebb and flow of daily life.

Video games, music, and movies can take us away to a mental sanctuary, but if the audio sucks, it’s hard to be pulled into the experience. You want to feel like you’re surrounded by the sound, rather than just taking it in. The 3D Sound Headphones can virtualize up to 25 sound sources, last for up to 18 hours on one charge, and will engulf you in your digital space.

It shouldn’t be terribly surprising that there’s an app to go with this, since there seems to be one for everything on the planet. The mobile app uses signal processing algorithms to position the various audio sources to give you quality sound reproduction. These are only available for pre-order at the price of $270, and will start shipping on September 15th. While these look really cool and seem to have big, squishy ear cups, there was no mention of how comfortable they are, which is a big factor if you want to marathon something for eight hours and this starts hurting at hour number two.
