Best Bluetooth Transmitter

1Mii B03 Lite

  • 197ft Range
  • Dual-Device Streaming + No Lag
  • Optical Audio Connection Available
  • 2-Year Warranty

Absolutely nothing is going to beat the 1Mii B03 Lite in the distance category. At 197 ft of range, you’ll be able to use it ANYWHERE. And, because of the exceptional distance, the signal connection is AMAZING. You can switch from room-to-room without any disconnection issues because of the external antennas and long range.

Avantree Audikast Plus

  • Can Connect To Two Separate Devices
  • 100ft Extremely Long Connection Range
  • Independent A/B Connection Volume Controls

While the 1Mii B03 has the distance factor, the Avantree Audikast Plus is the best for home use. It is feature loaded, with every connection you’ll ever need. The aptX technology helps to reduce any lip-sync issues you might experience with other devices and the 2-in-1 transmit/receive option is hard to beat.

Nulaxy KM18

  • Extra USB Power Port
  • Can Handle Hands-Free Calls
  • 1.44” Screen For Viewing On-Screen Prompts Easier

This was, and wasn’t, a hard decision. We absolutely loved all the features that the Nulaxy KM18 offers, but the gooseneck and LCD display put it over the top. Most of the other car transmitters offered voltage readings and other extras, but being able to move it around and see who was calling was a feature that made this the best for a car.

How We Picked

Do you want to be able to stream virtually anything you want on your TV or play music from your phone in an older car? If so, you’re going to need a Bluetooth transmitter device.

In fact, simple pocket-sized bluetooth transmitters make it far easier to stream anything than ever before.

That all being said, with so many Bluetooth transmitters available right now, how do you pick just one?

  • Is one really better than another?
  • Does the price actually matter?
  • What features are worthless and which ones are worth their weight in gold?

Since you’re here, you want to know what the best Bluetooth transmitter is, right?

Well, we’ve put together a list of the best transmitters so you don’t have to guess anymore. We’ve researched tons of transmitters and these are the ones that we like – and the ones you’ll love too.

Avantree Priva III

Avantree Priva III

Specs:

  • Range: Up to 100ft
  • Connections: 3.5mm AUX, RCA, USB
  • Power Source: USB Cable

If you’re looking for a wireless solution for your computer and/or home theater system, the Priva III is a great choice. It can connect to most older devices using the 3.5mm AUX cable or the RCA stereo cable (both included). For computer connections, the Priva III can connect using the USB charging/sync cable (included) without having to use the 3.5mm AUX cable. If using with your television, you’ll need to use the USB charging/sync cable for power and either the 3.5mm AUX cable or the RCA stereo cable for audio.

Avantree Priva III and USB cable

Unlike some wireless transmitters, this is powered via a USB cable and does not have a “battery life” to worry about. While this is great in your home, it makes it a questionable option for traveling as not all cars are equipped with USB ports (this can be solved using a socket-to-USB charger).

Avantree Priva III on TV and bluetooth box

When it comes to range, the Priva III excels, boasting max distances of up to 100ft (without obstructions). Of course, the more obstacles you put between you and the wireless transmitter, the shorter the effective transmission range will be. Even so, unless you’re in a very large room (i.e. classroom, presentation room), you should be able to connect without any issues.

Avantree Priva III on TV

Another feature of the Priva III that separates it from the competition is the ability to connect to two separate devices (i.e. headphones and/or speakers). Even better, it has a low-latency, zero-lag feature that allows you to enjoy what you are watching/listening to without any lip-sync issues.

Avantree Priva III accessories

What You Get When You Buy The Priva III:

  • Bluetooth Transmitter
  • Magnetic Base
  • 3.5mm Audio Cable
  • RCA Audio Cable
  • Micro USB Charging Cable
  • User Manual

What We Like

First, we like the ability to connect to multiple devices. Most wireless transmitters are only able to work with one device at a time, but the Priva III allows us to connect to two different headphones at the same time. Which means we can let our kids watch something without having to hear it – that’s pretty much always a good thing, right?

We also like the magnetic base which helps to keep the Priva III from shifting around when someone accidentally knocks into it (i.e. kids, pets). Instead of falling off of the TV stand, it stays put. Also, we love the fact that ALL of the cables are included with the Priva III. You don’t have to go buy extra cables to make it work – everything is included.

What We Don’t Like

Using the Priva III, you might notice that the output volume is noticeably lower than being directly connected to the streaming device (i.e your smartphone). In most cases, you’ll need to turn the volume up a little more when using the Priva III.

Overall

If you are looking for a great wireless transmitter that has everything you need to get started, the Priva III is your best bet. It’s very affordable, sleek in design, comes with the ability to connect to multiple devices at one time, is powered using USB and can even be used while on-the-go if you have a 12v-to-USB plug.

  • Dual-Link
  • No Lip-Sync Issues
  • Extremely Long Connection Range

Avantree Audikast Plus

Avantree Audikast Plus

Specs:

  • Range: Up to 100ft
  • Connections: 3.5mm AUX, RCA, USB
  • Power Source: USB Cable

If you need a slightly upgraded version of the Priva III, then the Audikast Plus should be on your watchlist. Where the Priva III lacked optical support, the Audikast Plus shines. Plus they added a super-clean user-interface with a few special features for multi-listening satisfaction.

Avantree Audikast Plus inputs

The Audikast is designed to work with ALMOST ANY device on the market. From older systems that only have an RCA audio to newer systems equipped with USB and/or optical connections, there’s a good chance that you’ll be able to use the Audikast to stream your audio signal properly. Because the Audikast uses a USB charging/sync cable (included), you’ll be able to connect to any computer that has USB support as well.

Avantree Audikast Plus buttons

And just like the Priva III, the Audikast is powered via a USB cable instead of a rechargeable battery. For home use, this is the best option. For traveling use, this is not the best option; but, you can still use it in your car if you use a 12v-to-USB adapter.

Avantree Audikast Plus connections

The Audikast is able to transmit up to 100ft (without obstruction), which works great in large rooms. If you’re in a smaller room like an office or bedroom, you’ll never max out the connectivity range.

Avantree Audikast Plus and two headphones

And the Audikast can connect to two separate devices at one time. And they used proprietary technology called aptX to minimize syncing issues (i.e. lip-sync). When using two different devices, they’ve included an A/B selector to control each device individually. No more arguing about turning the volume down as you can control the volume yourself.

Avantree Audikast Plus accessories

What You Get When You Buy The Audikast Plus:

  • Bluetooth Transmitter
  • Optical Audio Cable
  • 3.5mm Audio Cable
  • RCA Audio Cable
  • Micro USB Charging Cable
  • User Manual

What We Like

So, we like the ability to connect to multiple devices, but we love the ability to control each device independently of the other. When you have kids, you know they like to argue. And if one headphone is “too loud”, an argument ensues. Well, say goodbye to those arguments because now Susie won’t have to listen to it as loud as Brad wants to listen to it.

We also like the fact that they included all the necessary cables to make this a one-stop purchase. You won’t have to go out and buy anything extra to make the Audikast work properly (though you might want to buy a 12v-to-USB adapter).

What We Don’t Like

We didn’t like that they didn’t include a magnetic base like the Priva III. While this isn’t a deal breaker, it does make us look at the Priva III a little harder. Something else we didn’t like was the fact that this is more of a home/office solution instead of an all-in-one solution. If they would have included a 12v-to-USB adapter, this could have been used almost anywhere.

Overall

If you want a little more control over the Priva III, the Audikast Plus is just what you need. It does throw out the magnetic base, but it adds independent control of each connected device which makes it worth it to us.

Nulaxy KM18

Nulaxy KM18

Specs:

  • Range: Up to 30ft
  • Connections: FM, 3.5mm AUX Cable
  • Power Source: 12v Socket

Now, for those who only need a Bluetooth transmitter for their older vehicles (or those without Bluetooth technology), the Nulaxy KM18 is a great option at a price you can’t argue about.

Nulaxy KM18 packaging

The Nulaxy KM18 is designed to work with almost any device as long as it is Bluetooth capable. It will work with Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, Oppo, Motorola and more. To connect it to your vehicle, you’ll need to plug it into an open 12v socket, adjust your FM transmission frequency or connect your 3.5mm AUX cable (not included), and connect your streaming device – that’s it!

Nulaxy KM18 in car

The KM18 receives power from the 12v socket and works as long as there is power to your 12v sockets (not all cars turn off the 12v sockets when the key is turned off). If your vehicle does not turn off the 12v sockets, there is an on/off button on the KM18 to avoid battery drain. Speaking of battery drain, the KM18 even monitors the battery voltage of your vehicle to let you know if there’s a problem that you might not be aware of.

Nulaxy KM18 with memory card

While distance isn’t a big issue in a vehicle, it’s good to know that it can transmit up to 30ft away from the streaming source, which is good for long vehicles like a Suburban, Expedition or multi-passenger van.

What You Get When You Buy The KM18:

  • Bluetooth Transmitter
  • User Manual

What We Like

Starting out, we like the fact that the KM18 has an on/off switch. We saw other devices where it drained your batteries because the 12v sockets did not turn off when the car was off. Another feature we really like is the flexible gooseneck that allows you to adjust the visibility of the screen to your liking. We also like the fact that it can handle hands-free phone calls. And finally, we like that they included an additional USB port in the event you need to add an extra USB power port.

Nulaxy KM18 in car turned on

What We Don’t Like

While they did add an additional USB port, they didn’t make it where it could be used as a connection option. Yes, we understand that this is a Bluetooth option, but that would have been a nice feature. Another feature that would have been nice would have been including an auto-off feature that would shut the device down on its own, if it detected an abnormal battery level and/or a lack of a connection/playing device.

Overall

The Nulaxy KM18 is a great Bluetooth wireless transmitter for ANY vehicle. Unless you don’t have speakers and/or a radio, you can use the KM18. It will connect with almost any streaming device that supports Bluetooth and it doesn’t cost a fortune.

TaoTronics TT-BA08

TaoTronics TT-BA08

Specs:

  • Range: Up to 33ft
  • Connections: 3.5mm AUX Cable, 3.5mm to RCA Cable
  • Power Source: USB Cable + Internal Battery

Looking for a SUPER SMALL wireless option for your home/office? Then the TaoTronics TT-BA08 is worth a look – it’s barely bigger than a quarter! And yet, TaoTronics managed to squeeze in some serious tech in a very small package.

TaoTronics TT-BA08 measurements

The TT-BA08 will work with most TVs and other audio devices that have the ability to receive sound from an AUX cable and/or an RCA cable. Most devices are equipped with one of these two inputs so you should be pretty safe if you purchase this device.

TaoTronics TT-BA08 unboxed

As far as power, the TT-BA08 can run in both battery mode or connected mode. For home systems, this is great as you’ll be able to charge the device and use it at the same time. Where this really shines is when you are on the go. Because there is an internal battery (with up to 20 hours of use), you can connect your laptop and other devices even when you don’t have access to an open USB port. And where it really shines is when you’re in the car. Most other home wireless options don’t allow you to disconnect, but the TT-BA08 can, even connecting to the AUX input port on your radio (if you have one).

Due to the size of the TT-BA08, the maximum transmission range is around 33ft, which is nothing to sneeze at, but it is limiting.

TaoTronics TT-BA08 buttons

But, the TT-BA08 makes up for this by giving you the option to connect to two different pairs of headphones and/or other devices at one time. Even better, you can control your streaming device using the transmitter/receiver by changing your song, pausing it, or even controlling the volume.

TaoTronics TT-BA08 accessories

What You Get When You Buy The TT-BA08:

  • Bluetooth Transmitter
  • 3.5mm AUX Cable
  • 3.5mm Female to Left/Right RCA Male Cable
  • USB Charging Cable
  • User Manual

What We Like

The TT-BA08 is extremely small and portable. The 20-hour internal battery makes it a great option for those who are on the go. Of course, we like the fact that all the cables were included so you don’t have to go buy anything else to use it.

What We Don’t Like

And while all the cables are included, if you need to use the RCA cables, you’ll have to also use the 3.5mm AUX cable too – this is unnecessary. Some people noticed that the unit tends to get hot after a long streaming session. This is most likely because it is so small, but heat tends to kill electronics so be cautious if you want to use this all day/night.

Overall

The TT-BA08 has to be one of the smallest Bluetooth wireless transmitters we’ve ever seen. And yet, it functions as well as some larger, more expensive options. The included internal battery makes this a great option for both home and/or on-the-go.

TaoTronics TT-BA01

TaoTronics TT-BA01

Specs:

  • Range: Up to 33ft
  • Connections: 3.5mm AUX Cable
  • Power Source: USB Cable + Internal Battery

Looking for a small Bluetooth wireless option without all the frills? The TaoTronics TT-BA01 is right up your alley then. It’s about the size of two quarters side-by-side, but it still manages to squeak out a 33ft range.

TaoTronics TT-BA01 packaging

The TT-BA01 can work with any device that can connect to the 3.5mm male connection. For instance, your laptop and/or desktop, your iPod or iPad, your older MP3 player, even your television (you might need an RCA-to-3.5mm adapter which is included).

TaoTronics TT-BA01 connections

For power, the TT-BA01 can run from a connected USB cable or the internal battery which is capable of playing for 8 hours continuously and last for up to 140 hours on standby. This is a great option for the home, office, or on-the-go.

TaoTronics TT-BA01 and manual

And the TT-BA01 is able to squeeze a maximum transmission range of 33 feet. Due to its size, this is admirable. Even so, this is slightly limiting as other devices can reach up ranges up to 100 feet from the source.

TaoTronics TT-BA01 accessories

What You Get When You Buy The TT-BA01:

  • Bluetooth Transmitter
  • USB Charging Cable
  • 3.5mm Female to Left/Right RCA Male Cable
  • User Manual

What We Like

The TT-BA01 is extremely small and portable. The 8-hour/140-hour internal battery makes it a great option for those who are on the go. As it’s an all-in-one type transmitter, there’s nothing else you have to worry about or lug around to use it.

What We Don’t Like

Unfortunately, the TT-BA01 does get a little warm, just like the TT-BA08. It’s not as warm, but it still gets warm after a long streaming session. Where we were a little upset is with the audio quality. Even with a high-end pair of Bluetooth headphones, you might struggle to get the clear, concise bass that you’d expect.

TaoTronics TT-BA01 and headphones

Overall

The TT-BA01 is a very small, compact Bluetooth wireless streamer that can give you the freedom you want without all the hassle and complication of the more feature-heavy options.

Mpow 2-In-1

Mpow 2-In-1

Specs:

  • Range: Up to 33ft
  • Connections: 3.5mm
  • Power Source: Internal Battery

While you may not have heard of Mpow yet, you’ll want to take notice. The Mpow 2-in-1 is a great Bluetooth wireless option that works in both directions.

The 2-in-1 is designed to work with any device that has a 3.5mm audio port such as a phone, a laptop, a desktop, a TV, etc. It will stream from that device to any Bluetooth enabled receiver. But it can also function as a Bluetooth receiver making speakers and other devices Bluetooth capable as long as they can connect to the 3.5mm adapter.

Mpow 2-In-1 buttons and inputs

The Mpow 2-in-1 is battery powered and can be charged using the included USB charging cable (it cannot be charged and used at the same time). The 2-in-1 can last up to 12 hours on a single charge so you won’t be left hanging unless you’ve pushed it hard.

And even though the 2-in-1 is still using a 4.1 Bluetooth connection, it can still reach up to 33 feet away (this is shaky though).

Mpow 2-In-1 accessories

What You Get When You Buy The Mpow 2-in-1:

  • Bluetooth Transmitter
  • USB Charging Cable
  • 3.5mm Audio Cable
  • 3.5mm Audio Adapter
  • RCA Cable
  • User Manual

What We Like

The fact that this is so small and portable makes it a great option. We really prefer the battery only connection too. What we loved was the 2-in-1 transmitter/receiver option. Where most are only able to handle one direction, this can work in both. And, it will work with two devices when in transmitter mode (i.e. two headphones, two speakers) with a very low-latency (delay).

What We Don’t Like

And while there are a lot of great features, the 2-in-1 is limited in range. While they claim a range of 33 feet, it’s more like 20 feet. If a body gets between the source, it seems to block the signal enough to make the listening experience unpleasurable. In small spaces, you should be fine.

Overall

The Mpow 2-in-1 handles both transmission and reception needs in a very small package. For the price, it’s hard to beat. If you aren’t looking to send a signal across the gym, this will work well for you.

TaoTronics TT-BA07

TaoTronics TT-BA07

Specs:

  • Range: Up to 33ft
  • Connections: 3.5mm
  • Power Source: USB Cable + Internal Battery

We’ve added another TaoTronics product to the list, and for a good reason. The TaoTronics TT-BA07 adds a little bit to what the Mpow 2-in-1 offers.

TaoTronics TT-BA07 on TV

The TT-BA07 can work with any device that can accept a male 3.5mm audio plug like a laptop, desktop, portable speaker, etc. But, it will also work with any device that can transfer audio using a 3.5mm audio plug too (using adapters if necessary). Which means this is also a 2-in-1 transmitter and receiver like a few other options on this list.

TaoTronics TT-BA07 receiver and transmitter mode

While the TT-BA07 is battery powered, it is also able to be used while charging so you’ll never run out of power if you have an open USB port. When using the battery, you can expect run times of up to 10 hours.

And the TT-BA07 is able to reach out and touch someone with a range of 33ft both transmitting and/or receiving. However, it used Bluetooth 5.0 technology so the 33ft is probably closer to 45ft in good circumstances.

TaoTronics TT-BA07 accessories

What You Get When You Buy The TT-BA07:

  • Bluetooth Transmitter
  • USB Charging Cable
  • 3.5mm Audio Cable
  • 3.5mm Female to Left/Right RCA Audio Cable
  • User Manual

What We Like

We like that this is both a transmitter and a receiver, but we love the Bluetooth 5.0 option. Unfortunately, BT4.0 and BT4.1 are not nearly as stable as BT5.0. Of course, this being BT5.0, it has a much more stable connection, even when small obstacles are introduced. The battery life is what it says it is at around 10 hours, consistently.

What We Don’t Like

The TT-BA07 is a great device, but it does not use the aptX low latency technology when two devices are being used simultaneously, which means you cannot use two different speakers and you may notice lip-sync issues when using two devices.

Overall

If you liked the Mpow 2-in-1 but wanted more stability at longer distances, then the TT-BA07 is perfect for you. It’s still small, easy to transport, and has a good battery life.

IMDEN Bluetooth Transmitter

IMDEN Bluetooth Transmitter

Specs:

  • Range: Up to 33ft
  • Connections: FM, USB
  • Power Source: 12v Socket

Here’s another car FM transmitter that has a few surprising EXTRAS that’ll make you think twice before buying another transmitter.

The IMDEN Bluetooth Transmitter plugs into your 12v socket, connects to your radio through a selectable FM station, and then connects to your device using Bluetooth and/or a USB connection. In addition to connecting to other devices, it can also connect to a thumb drive preloaded with music (it has built-in back/forward controls).

IMDEN Bluetooth Transmitter buttons

The range of the IMDEN Bluetooth Transmitter is listed at 33ft. That’s a good range and more than enough in most vehicles.

IMDEN managed to load this socket transmitter up! They packed in dual USB ports, one equipped with QC3.0 charging capabilities as well as a USB music port connection too. There’s a built-in microphone for hands-free calling and it even monitors your battery voltage to alert you to any power issues with your vehicle.

IMDEN Bluetooth Transmitter on phone

What You Get When You Buy The IMDEN Bluetooth Transmitter:

  • Bluetooth Transmitter
  • User Manual

What We Like

You will really enjoy having two power connections to work with, plus the option to add in a preloaded USB thumb drive. Controlling your music and/or device is easy with the onboard controls and the music stops and the call switches over automatically. Since it’s so small, everything is in one nice place without any extra wires hanging out everywhere.

What We Don’t Like

If we would try to find something we don’t like about the IMDEN Bluetooth Transmitter, it’s the fact that the sound quality is a little dull. It is still using BT4.0 technology so it leaves a little to be desired. To fix this, turn the bass down a little and crank the treble up in the sound settings of your radio.

Overall

For the price, the IMDEN Bluetooth Transmitter is awesome. For the features, it’s worth more. It is small, convenient, and easy to use. What else do you need?

ACSUN Bluetooth Transmitter

ACSUN Bluetooth Transmitter

Specs:

  • Range: Up to 33ft
  • Connections: 3.5mm AUX Cable
  • Power Source: USB Cable + Internal Battery

Here’s another option that’s not as strong, range wise, as the Priva III but can be another great option at a lower price.

It can connect to your computer and/or home theater, while also connecting to other devices such as your older stereo systems and speakers. It uses a 3.5mm AUX cable to connect to all these devices (some may require an additional adapter such as 3.5mm to RCA).

ACSUN Bluetooth Transmitter buttons

For power, the ACSUN Bluetooth Transmitter is powered via USB cable and an internal battery. But the transmitter can be used while it is charging so you’ll “never” run out of juice as long as you’re close to an open USB port. The internal battery has an expected life of around 10 hours so you can move around without being tied up by USB cords.

ACSUN Bluetooth Transmitter usecases

As for range, the transmitter can reach up to 33ft (like most others) and uses Bluetooth 4.2 technology to ensure a clean connection without any hiccups.

And you can connect to multiple devices at one time, even transmitting and receiving at the same time (not common in most devices). It utilizes the aptX low-latency technology to help keep lip-sync issues at bay.

ACSUN Bluetooth Transmitter on TV screen

What You Get When You Buy The ACSUN Bluetooth Transmitter:

  • Bluetooth Transmitter
  • USB Charging Cable
  • 3.5mm AUX Cable
  • User Manual

What We Like

Using the ACSUN Bluetooth transmitter, we fell in love with the fact that it can actually send and receive at the same time. You rarely get that so it is kind of a neat little feature (don’t know that if you’ll use it much though). The sound quality did not seem as “muffled” as some of the other devices and you won’t need to do any sound corrections.

What We Don’t Like

The battery life is a little unpredictable. At times you might see 10 hours and others, maybe 6 hours. It seems that if it is warm, it doesn’t last as long.

Overall

If you liked the Priva III but wanted a lower price, then the ACSUN is a viable replacement. It may not transmit as far, but you do get what you pay for.

1Mii B03 Lite

1Mii B03

Specs:

  • Range: Up to 197 ft
  • Connections: 3.5mm AUX Cable, RCA Audio Cable, Optical Audio Cable
  • Power Source: USB Cable

When you need distance, you need the 1Mii B03!

The B03 is able to connect to just about any device that accepts a 3.5mm audio cable, an RCA audio cable, or an optical audio cable. Pretty much, if it has an audio input, it will work with the B03; and the cables are included in the packaging.

1Mii B03 inputs and buttons

The B03 is powered using a USB cable (included) so you’ll never have to worry about the power going out. And if you don’t have an open USB port, you can use the included wall adapter to keep the B03 running strong.

But, the B03 is built for distance. In fact, it can reach all the way up to 197 ft away from the transmitter when the line of sight is clear. There’s nothing else that comes close to this on our list (the closest is 97 ft away). It uses dual antennas to maximize the range of this transmitter and the connection quality is unparalleled. You won’t have to worry about dropped signals and spotty connections.

And, you can still connect to multiple devices at one time, without having to worry about lip-sync issues. Most of the other devices cannot promise lip-sync protection when using multiple devices at one time.

1Mii B03 and bluetooth boxes

What You Get When You Buy The 1Mii B03:

  • Bluetooth Transmitter
  • Power Adapter
  • 5v Power Cable
  • 3.5mm Female to Left/Right RCA Male Cable
  • Optical Cable
  • 3.5mm Audio Cable
  • User Manual

What We Like

Okay, so this is obvious. We love the fact that it can reach up to 197 ft before losing signal. If you came into this article looking for something with range, this is your transmitter.

What We Don’t Like

Looking for a reason to dislike this, we believe that the unit is a little cheaply made. If you dropped it, it might break. Other users reported issues with the device after a single drop. We think it could be attributed to the external antennas and the added stress a fall puts on the board and the glued connections. That’s no real dealbreaker tho, after all people still buy $1000 iPhones that face the same issue.

Overall

If you want to reach out and touch someone, this is the transmitter to use. Nothing else is going to get close to what this can do range wise.

Buyer’s Guide To Find The Best Bluetooth Transmitter

Range

One of the most important features to look for in a WIRELESS Bluetooth transmitter is range. Range is the measurement of how far the device can work without dropping signal and/or connection. The further the distance, the better the device will work at closer ranges. Most transmitters work at around a max of 30ft, but some of the better ones can reach ranges of 100 ft+.

Power

Most transmitters are built for home use or portable use, but not both. Inasmuch, some are powered via USB cables and others are powered using 12v automotive sockets; some are powered via internal batteries. Depending on your application, you’ll need to make sure that your device will work according to your expectations.

Connections

How your device connects to other devices is important. There are plenty of connection options but the most common connections are USB, FM, 3.5mm AUX cable, RCA cable, and optical cable.

Multi-Devices

While a streaming device is normally a one-to-one device, there may be times when you need to connect to multiple speaker or headphones. If your device isn’t capable, this can be frustrating. Look for a device that has multi-device capabilities if you’ll need to use more than one receiving device (i.e. headphones) at one time.

Latency Technology

And finally, find a streaming device that has some form of latency protection built in. Latency affects user enjoyment as you don’t want to feel like you are watching a translated film (lip-sync issues).

That’s really all there is to it. If you look for these things, you’ll be good to go.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is A Bluetooth Transmitter Better Than An FM Transmitter?

A: A Bluetooth transmitter is better than an FM transmitter because it uses higher quality codes and bitrates to transmit the audio. FM uses older technology that is not built to reproduce the signal as well as Bluetooth. Some Bluetooth devices are actually equipped with an FM transmitter so that you can still use it in an older vehicle.

Q: Can Bluetooth Transmitters Send Signals Through Walls?

A: Yes, but it will severely limit the distance that you can move around and the sound quality may suffer. Most transmitters are designed to work at around 30 ft of unobstructed distance. If you add a disrupter such as a wall and/or a person, the signal quality can be weakened and you’ll lose connection. If you need to move around from room-to-room, consider a stronger Bluetooth transmitter that can work at 100 ft+. We have a few transmitters that will do this on our list.

Q: Can I Connect Multiple Devices Such As Two Different Headphones To My Bluetooth Transmitter?

A: Some transmitters work with multiple devices. You’ll have to make sure that the transmitter you are interested in has the capability to support two different devices at one time. Some of the ones on our list are capable of doing this.

Q: Can I Connect My Smartphone To An Older Stereo System Using A Bluetooth Transmitter?

A: This depends… If the older stereo system has a 3.5mm AUX input port or an RCA input port, then yes; if not, no.

Q: Can I Connect My USB Thumb Drive To A Bluetooth Transmitter?

A: Some devices have this ability, but most do not. Most are designed to work with smart devices that are broadcasting audio. Thumb drives are unable to broadcast audio directly, as they are just storage devices. Your transmitter would have to be able to read the thumb drive, access the audio, and then play it. Again, most do not have this feature available to them.

Q: Can I Use A Bluetooth Transmitter For Hands-Free Calls?

A: Some are designed to work as a hands-free solution, using built-in microphones as well as transmit and receiving options. If it will work, your transmitter will have to support both incoming and outgoing connections. If it only streams (sends), then it will not work.

Q: Can I Use A Bluetooth Transmitter With My Hearing Aids?

A: If your hearing aids are Bluetooth enabled, absolutely! Most hearing aids are not equipped for this so you probably won’t be able to do this. Also, a transmitter will not affect your hearing aids like other auditory sources can.

Q: Can’t I Just Make My Own Bluetooth Transmitter Using DIY Kits?

A: Sure, you could. But you would spend a lot of money and you still wouldn’t have a transmitter that had the built quality and features that an already built transmitter would have. Instead of building one, it’s a lot easier to buy one from our list.
