Back in the day when ISIS was not a four-letter word and lopping off peoples’ heads for seemingly inane reasons, it was a puzzle that has been touted to be the most difficult puzzle ever released to the masses. Well, perhaps that might be true back in 2007, but things have certainly changed since then. Children have become a whole lot smarter, and it would be best to make sure that puzzle games keep up with the trend as well in the form of the $40,000 Three Dimensional Labyrinth Orb.
Now this is definitely a big ask when it comes to the asking price, no matter how filthy rich you are. The thing is, what makes it so endearingly difficult? This happens to be a three-dimensional spherical labyrinth that challenges the limits of your manual dexterity and spatial understanding as you maneuver a 5/8″ wooden marble through its entire course. The orb itself is a complex network of chicanes, multi-planar hairpin turns, zig-zags, and channels, and even comes with a sliding gondola. It is also hand made from 3- and 6-ply Finnish birch that form the track in order to up the final sticker price, with more than 400 hours required for its construction. Each orbs’ difficulty level can be customized, due to the huge amount that you are paying for it.
