Undercover Colors – The Manicure that Helps Keep You Safe

Is the world changing? Or has it always been a scary place, and I am only recognizing it now that I have a child. Perhaps its just the media, bringing to our attention every gory detail of just how badly we treat each other? In any case, I lie in bed at night and wonder how to keep my daughter safe, and to be honest, I’d like all the help I can get.

Well, here’s some help that comes in the form of a small bottle of nail polish, called Undercover colors. Designed by students attending North Carolina State University, Undercover Colors is a real nail polish that actually changes color when the presence of date rape drugs is detected in a drink. You simply stir your drink with a manicured finger, and voila! if it came in contact with a date-rape drugs like Rohypnol, Xanax, or GHB, the color change will let you know, don’t take a sip, call the cops, crisis averted.

Right now the team is focusing on technical development and market testing. they also  plan on refining the prototype before Undercover Colors goes into full scale production, so, sadly, the product has not yet been launched, but you can follow their progress, or at least participate in the cause by offering your support. Keep tabs on upcoming developments on their website at undercovercolors.com.

Hi Kate – While there are naysayers claiming the product won’t help, it is INDEED in development. The students are working to perfect it before bringing it to market. Whether you believe detecting only some of the drugs that can be used to harm you is useful… thats another story. My motto: SOMETHING is better than nothing. So, its not a fake – its in the works.
