PengPod 1040 does the triple boot dance

pengpod1040Remember back in the day when an Apple machine could actually boot up Windows, and run apps such as Microsoft Office? That was considered as a travesty, but that is no longer the case these days, and for good reason, too. After all, why fret over the petty things when you have a device which is capable of booting up with more than one operating system? The PengPod 1040 tablet, however, is something that will offer more than just dual booting capability. In fact, the PengPod 1040 is now able to triple boot. Yes, you read that right, it is capable of handling a trio of operating systems without missing a beat!

First of all, the PengPod 1040 can is no slouch when it comes to performance, as it comes with a 9.7″ ultra high resolution tablet which has the processing firepower required to run on Android, GNU/Linux and Ubuntu Touch. Ubuntu Touch was specially programmed so that it is able to deliver a similar, friendly Ubuntu experience, albeit being touch friendly, of course. This means that one is able to navigate the Ubuntu desktop without having to make use of a mouse and keyboard.

Apart from that, there will also be a quad-core processor that runs proceedings from within. Imagine playing your favorite Android game or to view a favorite movie on the PengPod 1040’s brilliant HD display, only to realize that there is still some work left to be done. That’s not an issue at all, as you can just switch over to Linaro OS (Ubuntu arm) or Ubuntu Touch.

There is a catch to the Pengpod 1040, however. It depends on how much the general public wants to see it come into existence, as it needs to receive the relevant funds in order to meet its funding goal. The faster the goal is met, the quicker they are able to kick start the full production. Right now, the crowdfunding goal on Indiegogo stands at $349,000, where the starting price for the tablet will start at $249. Not only that, there is also an Early Bird special for the first hundred customers, where the PengPod 1040 would retail for a mere $220.
