It’s Coming – The iPhone 5, Will you Buy it?

I finally broke down and got myself the iPhone 4S, I like it well enough. My husband hates his old Blackberry so I suggested he grab one at the same time, he decided not to, because he wanted to wait for the 5. “What the heck else do you need a phone to do?” I asked him, he couldn’t answer, but he’s still gonna wait.

I decided to check and see what amazing advances I was now going to miss out on, and this is what I have ascertained so far: Aside from a rumored quad core processor, it looks like those in the know think the dock connector is going to change, (smaller, with less pins) which seems weird as the connector is almost iconic. The new iPhone will probably be a bit larger, but also a bit thinner, (the slightly curved glass rumor seems officially out the window) but do expect a slightly larger screen, say 3.9″ or 4″ instead of our current 3.5″ with a 16:9 HDTV-style aspect ratio .

The launch date is probably going to hit this fall, like September or October and my research suggests that this new iPhone will also probably include enhanced iCloud service, and better, higher resolution cameras (both front and rear) with dual flash, maybe even 4G or LTE capability, face recognition, and an iTunes wireless sync. There is some speculation that it could have an HDMI output and some improved battery life but it could also be missing the useful “home” button.

Thats about it, I can’t find anything more tantalizing than that, (and even this is all simply speculation) I guess I’m okay with the phone I have now. What do you guys think the biggest iPhone changes will be? What do you wish they were? and is everybody out there anxiously awaiting the iPhone 5?

I’m waiting for lte. If the next doesn’t have lte, I’ll get a Samsung. Lte on an android phone is better than an iPhone on 3G. Lte is so much better.

Inductive charging dock/tray? Thunderbolt port? NFC?
Enhanced Siri (non beta)? IOS 6? Better camera? It will have some kind of a USP to distinguish it from the last model.

Honestly the Iphone 5 won’t we anything unexpected except some small new feature, last year that was Siri. I don’t mean to be mean but frankly it’s clear that apple has a huge consumer base they do not want to risk throwing away with anything new. As a result, the only thing that will change is an improved display, improved camera, and another gimmicky feature.

It seems like people are letting corporations define their requirements instead of wondering if I really do want a quad processor with a 21 megapix camera? Of course with that I would need an unlimited 4G connection to be able to share my images and a HDTV to see it. Really?

After looking at the features of the so called iPhone 5, nothing really stands out to be honest. All the things mentioned are just enhancements and I keep wondering if it would convince people to shell out big bucks for something they aren’t really sure they need. Some cool features I would love to see would be a solar Panel under the touch screen, which keeps my battery awake. This gets rids of all the holes and ports on the side making the phone waterproof/ dust proof. Used with wireless headphones, it gives you the freedom from wires. If constraints allow, having a built projector like some digital cameras have, getting rid of the need for a HDTV for displaying your images. Got the feeling Samsung might have a better shot than Apple to making it a reality.

The Iphone 5 will be amazing. Are people really not seeing the trend with the Iphones. Apple release a new phone every 2 years. On the off years the just make the one they just released faster with a new feature.

If the new iPhone is going to be thinner, I doubt it will have an HDMI port. However, you can get an adapter right now for your current phone. It works great!
