Jetman soars over the Grand Canyon

Some of you might remember our old friend Yves Rossy. This man, who is also known as “Jetman” has used this personal rocket pack to fly across the English channel, is now handling some Evel Knievel territory with the Grand Canyon. There is a video after the jump if you want to check it out for yourself.
Actually, Evel Knievel did the Snake River Canyon, as he couldn’t get permission from the government to do the Grand Canyon. I don’t know whether Jetman got permission, but he got into a helicopter and hovered 8,000 feet above the canyon’s floor and leaped out. He then started up his four-motor jetpack and flew for about 200 feet above the canyon ridge at about 190 miles per hour for eight minutes before opening a parachute.
Apparently, Jetman did this one day later than originally planned, away from the media spotlight. However, there were onlookers, and I would assume that this is how we can post about it in the first place.
Man, that Jetman is just living the dream, isn’t he? I wonder if he did a loop like that one time. So, if you had the rocket pack, would you be willing to take a flight? Leave a comment for your answer.

  1. I would consider flying with the jet pack AFTER someone can construct a household toaster that works properly for more than 6 months.
