With the phenomenal success of the Flip brand of pocket HD camcorders, it’s no wonder that Cisco – Flip’s new owner – would want to expand their reach. And as such, they’re moving into TV with a new gadget which will wirelessly stream Flip video from a USB stick and controlled by remote.
The FlipShare TV is a three piece set includes the FlipShare TV box, USB stick and remote control and uses FlipShare software to view and edit Flip video right on your TV. The video interface looks easy to navigate as well.
Other than that, details are murky, but product shots show HDMI and composite video connectors for TV connection.
No word on pricing or release date, and even PR departments are currently mum on the details. But Flip fans will want to pay attention come Christmastime as this is bound to be something most interesting. If Flip could work out a way to expand it’s use with timeshifting capability or even direct upload to YouTube that can be viewed on one’s HDTV, that’d be sweet.
But if all it does is allow viewing your videos on your TV directly from your computer, I have to wonder if it can be used to stream other video as well? only time will tell.
