The Mini Bomb Speaker

by Ally

When you need a portable speaker, you might as well get one with a bit of personality and this speaker definitely has personality.  This miniature bomb looks like a bomb you’d find in the old Looney Tunes cartoons.  He has a permanent look of surprise on his face, although they don’t explain what he’s so surprised about.  This bomb will be sure to play your music whether you have an iPod or just a generic MP3 player.  He’s not picky.

You just plug your device in through the 3.5mm jack, which will allow pretty much any MP3 player and even some phones to work just fine with this.  He’s said to even be small enough to carry in your pocket or you could just stash him away in a bag.  It has a built-in battery that is fully rechargeable.  Once that battery has a full charge, he’ll keep on playing your music for up to 4 hours.  You can purchase him for £12.99 or about $22 from Suck UK.

I actually just found these for the first time last night. I’d never heard of it but I had to buy one. I got it for less than $7.00 at Walmart. It’s adorable and sounds really good. Especially for its size. Totally cool.

how will you charge it? my little boy open it and i cant find the instruction…can anybody help me? 🙂

Marly Says: December 26, 2011 at 12:12 am

Yes it is rechargeable and what a great speaker!! I am really enjoying it. To answer your question the bomb has a usb cabel and on the bottom of the bomb is a wee tiny hole that the other end of the usb cabel plugs into. You really have to look closly because the hole isn’t much bigger around than the size of a paper clip wire. However…..above the plug where the adapter fits it is marked DC5V. I have looked and bought several small speakers for my laptop and iPod and have always been dissapointed until this one!!!!

Teresa Says: December 29, 2011 at 9:46 am

how do you charge the bomb speaker?

Chris Says: January 10, 2012 at 4:01 am

hey mai, there is a cord with a usb connection. you can use the computer to charge with using any usb port that has 300MaH or more available power. mine personally is a “winky” bomb speaker, just like the one in the picture. despite its size, this thing can easily bust out 80+dB without a fuss. i played it outdoors and can be heard while facing your direction, up to 300 feet at least. Many Kudos to whomever designed this speaker. there are others like it, such as the music bullet, but they are a gimic compared to the sound of this speaker.

The mini bomb was given to me as a stoking stuffer and it is suprising in it’s quality and volume. It works on iphone, ipad, computer and anything else that has a plug in connection.

brian wilks Says: January 23, 2012 at 12:02 am

this thing is great! sounds really good for the size! if you cut a hole in a solo cup and stick the speaker in it it gets even louder! I need to know if its safe to leave plugged into the computer or if its safe to leave it plugged in to usb?????

Sharon hearns Says: January 29, 2012 at 12:33 pm

I left the bomb on and now it doesn’t work. I have been trying to recharge it but without luck. Any advice?

Don McMillen Says: January 31, 2012 at 7:24 pm

I to can’t seem to charge my bomb. I charged when i recieved it but a month later it lights up during charge but only will play for about 10 seconds.

Gary Says: February 8, 2012 at 8:00 pm

There crazy i bought it for $6.50 at walmart

BC Says: February 19, 2012 at 11:18 am

These things are junk!!! Bought two so far neither have worked. When you plug the charger into the bomb if you push it just a little too hard the thing falls apart inside.

Chris Says: February 20, 2012 at 3:31 pm

thats because you are too rough with them. you assumed that the speakers are made of titanium of the like toughness. you did see how small the charger jack was right??? NOTE TO ALL FUTURE USERS: do be careful with the parts. they are very small and break extremely easily.

mister E Says: February 28, 2012 at 7:38 pm

On the bottom of the bomb, remove the sticky pad. You will see the on and off button, a blue light and the hole to put the usb cor in. thats what you
use to charge your bomb

Albert Says: March 12, 2012 at 12:19 am

How long does it take for this speaker to fully charge? Because, I don’t want to overcharge because it is not good. Does it automatically shut off?

JR Says: March 16, 2012 at 2:13 pm

bought as an impulse as well. and it sounds amazing. its loud, portable and looks real nice. real cheap too like 7 dollars

Wilber parra Says: March 26, 2012 at 9:20 pm

I got one of these today and I got it out and connected it to my iPod and used it for like 3 minutes then it suddenly shut off and I charged it and pluged it in to my iPod later and you can barely hear anything I have to holdit up to my ear to hear. It not my iPod cuz my head phone work just fine. Any advice?

cyberkeeper1 Says: March 27, 2012 at 5:18 pm

@Wilber parra:

i suggest that if it continues this type of operation you take it back to exchange it.

I have had the same speaker since this last december and it works great. i’ve misplaced the cahrger cord as of late so i am sad… but anyhow, i will say this…

i am going to buy a second one to be able to charger the first one. and then i will modify the jack to have the left and right dedicated speakers for awesome laptop stereo sound. the top and middle sections of the plug are left(top) right(middle section) and common ground(lower, longest portion of the jack). if you cover the right side set for the left speaker and vice-versa for the right speaker, you will succeed. 😀 happy jamming!

BreeJoyy Says: April 12, 2012 at 8:55 pm

baileybamonte Says: June 2, 2012 at 12:03 pm

I got one for Christmas 2011 but mine is different. The speaker’s face is winking and his tounge is sticking out. I can charge it from my computer and use it with my computer while it is charging. It’s a perfect lil speaker! (especially for me bc i am always saying the volume is too low from computer speakers

Santino Says: August 14, 2012 at 1:02 pm

How do you know if it is charging or not?

wally mart Says: August 19, 2012 at 11:07 am

hi. so far it’s the only speaker that works with my rca mp3 player. tried others and the volume is cranked with very little sound. works well but haven’t had it very long. does need charging info. the bullet needs 8 hrs, does this??

baileybamonte Says: August 21, 2012 at 5:39 am

Okay the way to know how to charge it might or might not depend on what kind you have mine has a different face than the one above but if you look on the bottom of the speaker there are 2 holes. One is a light and the other is where you plug the charger in. The charger can be plugged into any computer with a USB port and can be used with any device while charging except when doing this it makes a weird staticy noise if you use it while charging but it still can be used during this time. You will know it is charging when a bright blue light comes on next to where it is plugged into the charger. You can also charge it with a television but it might have to be a newer model of a television which i’d say could have been made in….the last 6 years maybe. 6 or 4 i’m not sure but it has to have a usb where you plug the charger in. It can also be charged with an Xbox 360 and it probably can be charged with other game consoles too but I’m not sure since the Xbox 360 is all we have because it can be used for a lot of things. You can even charge an iPod with an Xbox 360! (probably. I could charge my mp3 with it but it didnt charge it very well. It’d take about a week on the xbox charger for a full mp3 battery :O) Now i hope you guys know how to charge it and stuff. Oh and did i mention? If you have a small television that has a headphone jack but the speakers in the television are busted you can use the little bomb speaker to be able to hear it. That’s what me and my mom do. We have a nice tv in the living room but when some peeps moved out next door we were free to take whatever we wanted that the people had left and there was a tv that had no sound so we use the bomb speaker and it works. 🙂 thanks for reading this and i hope it helped you!

silly Says: October 21, 2012 at 11:56 pm

Okay guys/gals – I know that you have all commented on the cute bomb and how to charge it ie at least 3 hours (4-5 is recommended) where to plug it in on the bottom then connect other end to computers usb port – when the blue light comes on you know it is being charged. BUT…. does it matter if the bomb is turned on or off to do this?? Either way the light comes on blue so I am thinking NO???

baileybamonte Says: October 24, 2012 at 5:04 pm

Silly it does not matter you can use it while its charging too but sometimes it makes the music sound funny while its charging idk why though.

cassie Says: November 14, 2012 at 8:51 pm

I too bought this bomb n had problems after only 2 days! It was charged or so I thought and then it didnt work. It was only working while “charging” but never really got charged! Walmart replaced it tonight so I will try again!

liliana Says: November 24, 2012 at 4:40 pm

My bomb speaker wont work when i plug it to my ipod it wont be loud and when i put it close to my ear you could hear the music but just a little bit and the volume is up and its new just bought it 5 days ago HELP!!!!

chris Says: November 26, 2012 at 7:37 pm

I bought one at walmart the other day. Factory sealed and no charger included, is this common?

cyberkeeper1 Says: November 28, 2012 at 9:24 am

yes it is common. the performance of the company is kind of a very small operation. i believe there are just a handful of people running hype audio, and they dont even have a website.

SWilson Says: December 3, 2012 at 11:14 am

Yep me too no charger!!! So canI just but the charger at wal mart too. Bought this at Best Buy like it but just died so now I need a charger 🙁

JJames Says: December 11, 2012 at 12:07 am

Welpp. My pops baught my mini bomb speaker for only 8 bucks at the local dollar general. It was already charged enough to turn on when i got it out of the box! Ive charged it for a few hours. And used it a few times. The music/sound is loud and clear! Even slight bass. But nothing crazy (obvs, since the speaker is only about an inch around.) . My question for everyone the likes their bomb. Is after you charge it… Does anyone elses little blue light stay on slightly ? Its BRIGHT when its on or charging. But when I unplug it. And its dark enough. I can still see a faint blue light..

Common or not ?

Either way. I think everyone should have it. Ive baught other speakers for my ipod/phone before. But never had ANYTHING cost so little. And have such loud/good sound.

A++ in my book. 5/5 stars. Definatly is a cool piece of technology!

Skylar Says: December 18, 2012 at 6:57 pm

I just got the bomb speaker from walmart for 7$ in the checkout line and it is an amazing buy! It is super loud and the perfect size to carry around.

nick Says: December 19, 2012 at 4:01 pm

hey it is so cool i read that if you charge if for 1 hour you can listen to it on low to medium for 4 hours and on high for 1.5 hours

Tj Says: December 24, 2012 at 11:53 am

I bought the mini bomb for about $2 after Halloween. So far so good. It did not come with a charger but for 2 buck who could complain. I had an extra adapter that fit. My son has enjoyed listening to his generic mp3 player. What a cool impulse buy!

Drew Says: January 16, 2013 at 2:53 pm

Did it come with a charger?

JD Says: January 28, 2013 at 1:05 pm

To charge your mini bomb speaker use the usb cable. Remove the sticker on the bottom of the speaker and you see the port and an on/off switch.

steve Says: April 6, 2013 at 1:25 pm

I just got a Bomb and it’s working fine except for a curious problem. If I put it on a soft surface, furniture, etc it plays fine. If I put it on a hard surface, tabletop, countertop, etc it plays a loud, irritating, scratching sound every 15-30 seconds. I’ve heard the same sound when I put my phone near speakers connected to a computer. Any ideas why?

Cindy Says: April 16, 2013 at 4:45 pm

Well i have a problem with the wire that goes from the mini bomb speaker into the phone well has split in split in half I try to put it back together but when I started getting into it three skinny wires with thin thin copper red b don’t know how to p help please thank you

baileybamonte Says: April 21, 2013 at 5:16 pm

Cindy, it’s pretty much broken. You should buy a new one but if you really want to get it fixed, i’d say you should talk to a professional electronic repairman.

dave Says: May 31, 2013 at 9:53 pm

I have one of these speakers but I don’t have a charging cord. Can I buy just a charging cord or is there another cord I can use?

Sloane Says: August 17, 2013 at 12:34 pm

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! The mini-bomb speaker looks cute and has about the same quality as any product that costs $6.97. Classic problem of impulse buys. Anyways, like most of the lovely reviewers here I bought mine at a Wal-mart at the check-out line thinking “Eh what can it hurt?!” Apparently it hurts my bank account. A waste of gas money going to and from the store and buying it and not really working. I turned my on and it played the music alright, so I went to charge it, so I could use it later. FINALLY after I logged onto this website to figure out how to charge it. I go to plug in the usb cable into the computer. go to plug in the charger into the mini bomb.
It fell right out. The hole was cut too big on the bomb. Not a happy camper.

Coconut Says: September 15, 2013 at 11:31 am

I LOVE IT! IT came to me from a grandparent and now my friends and I can all listen to my ipod. Came with the perfect charging cord and with no damage what so ever. Im thinking about buying another and an earphone splitter so i can extraordinary sound. All those who hated on it, I guess all I can say is haters gonna hate

Mine sounds great and charges fine, but when its off it ticks like a bomb. Is this normal? It stops when I turn it on, but ticks when its off. I guess I’ll leave it on till it runs dead so it wont tick

I have had mine for like 3-4 years. I love it. I charge it when it needs it, but mine holds a chrge forever. I used it with my i-pod, hours & hours. Got a little rca-pod(lol) and would take it to work, play it about 4-6 hours a night, charge it maybe once a week. Love my Winky/Tounge out Bomb!!!

alisha Says: April 14, 2015 at 5:08 pm

I have this bomb speaker works absoutley perfect lol

It’s awesome Says: July 9, 2015 at 1:18 pm

It’s great! It sounds like a professional speaker and lights up the feeling to my room. Be careful with its your charger because it is small and easy too lose but other than that I’ve had my bomb speaker for more than 5 years and it’s always worked great. P.S – (just a piece of unimportant information) I have the one where it’s winking with the tongue sticking out.
