Cricket rolls out Samsung SCH-r211

Cricket Communications, Inc. isn’t one of the major cell phone service providers in the US, but that doesn’t mean it does not do its part to bring in new handsets to this part of the world. Recently, Cricket has just announced the new Samsung SCH-r211 being made available to Cricket customers. This is a sleek, modern bar style phone that features an easy-to-use interface, allowing users instant and easy access to a variety of services and features required for everyday use, offering pretty good value-for-money in the sub-$100 category. Features of the handset includes downloadable content support, AWS support that enables the customer to use the r211 in all Cricket markets, text messaging services, any-key/auto answer and personal tools (calendar, memo pad, alarm clock, calculator, and more). You can pick up the SCH-r211 for $89.99.

This phone sucks, I just got it today, charged for 6 hours and it does not work.

It will sit there and charge forever, and every 20 seconds the Samsung screen will appear, beep and resume charging. Forever.

If you take it off the charger and try to turn on the phone…. Nothing happens…. If you plug in your charger then turn on the phone…. Oh wait its working, cool I can see my clock, cricket wallpaper, menus… Lets program some phone num– What? it shut off?! Charging again?! Come on now really?! Gah screw it… 1/5

Maybe its just my luck for getting a defected phone or battery. But still do they even test these phones and see if they work? I don’t know. Nobody tries anymore, its always “Here buy this its super revolutionary phone. It’s slick and easy to use!” But turns out to be a big pile of crap.

I have had this phone for over a year and have never had a single problem with it.

It charged just fine when I got it in April of 09, and after almost a year of daily use the phone maintains charge enough for 2-3 days of use before needing to re-charge. Controls are easy to figure out, the memory is enough for tons of contact numbers and information, and frankly, for the price, this has been a GREAT phone.
