Free Jamie

  • Free Jamie, not Willy!

A dramatic story deserves a dramatic end, and the Free Jamie chronicle is all that.

Jammie Thomas was the first person to actually present a defense in trial after being accused of illegal file sharing and a fine set at over $200,000.

Sadly, the Jury didn’t like her defense that was related to someone spoofing her IP address. Take in consideration that we’re not talking about a high number of songs, less than 30.

Lets go back and take a look at some numbers about Jamie and the whole scenario:

– 1 single mother (making less then $40,000 per year)
– 2 children
– 24 songs being shared
– fine valued at $222,000

Does it make sense?

So, how does one try to gain some money to solve this problem? Easy – by selling merchandise with the “Free Jamie. Free Everyone” words to exploit the case. There are t-shirts, sweatshirts, boxers, thongs, dog shirts, mugs, caps, bags, and more.

  • Daylight Saving Time and Gadget Problems

It is always a problem when the daylight saving time season comes along, because a couple of gadgets aren’t ready for the scenario: some just stop working, while others set up the wrong time.

The folks at Cnet were kind enough to share some of their stories, so here are the 3 known gadgets that have daylight saving time problems:

– Mercedes C320 clock – was ahead of time on Sunday
– Treo cellphone – was one hour behind of time
– BlackBerry Curve – set the time one hour ahead

What about you? Any stories to share?
