Just Turned Down $200,000 for Coolest Gadgets

It’s been a funny old time, I’ve turned down two interesting offers for Coolest Gadgets in the space of a week, I won’t say I’ll never sell but it’s worth a lot more to me than was on the table.

Much more importantly (for me anyway) I’ve just launched another site, Self Made Minds which is all about making money on the Net (my second favourite past time after gadgets) and will include a full history of how CG became what it is in the past 18 months (traffic, revenue, mistakes, warts and all).

Sorry for making this a bit of a “me” post but I’ve also just been interviewed about CG by my good mate Dan over at Daily Blog Tips, it’s in part of his interesting blogger face off series and I was up against another mate Vic, the master behind Uber Review, as it’s a face off competition I need votes so please check it out 🙂

So if you want to make (more) money on the Net check out Self Made Minds, read the quick fire interview go here or read more about cool gadgets scroll down.

Thanks for reading this somewhat self promotional post.

$200,000 is some serious money, also if you turned down it means the real value is actually more. That is an outstanding work for 18 months, I will follow your new blog to learn the secrets 🙂

Also you are winning the face-off right now, lets see if Vic will make a comeback!

Congratulations, Al!

The face off in Daily Blog Tips between you and Vic was the best so far.

I’m also going to read your new blog everyday to find out your tips on how to achieve this great success!

Thanks Dan, I find it difficult to value CG as I see it as more than just a business. I had a figure in my mind at what I’d consider selling and the amount was not even close IMO.

Thanks Nick, but I reckon the interviews before were better as I learnt more from those and my picture is crap (though I still use that pic on all interviews I’m invited to do).

if I had more space I would have included the whole picture hehe, the crocodile would certainly get you a few extra votes!

I agree with Dan and think that cropping the image so the crocodile doesn’t show up is something very… bad!

Congrats and good luck with your new project.

PS – if you get a good offer for CG and decide to sell it, don’t forget about your peeps! *hint hint* 😛

Now you got me curious about this crocodile t-shirt!

Tiago Says: March 20, 2007 at 5:50 pm

It is not a crocodile t-shirt, you can see the image here – http://tinyurl.com/39xvst (scroll down) – and don’t forget to make fun of Al afterwards!

That’s even funnier!

Hey Al, congrats! 🙂 Great to see all the hard work paying off…

Congrats Al,you best double check that was a $200,000 and not a £200,000, those typo’s really do make all the difference 😉

Al Says: March 21, 2007 at 11:58 am

Thanks every one. If it had been £ rather $ the answer would still of been the same 🙂

Voted for you Al! Glad to see that going full time is paying off for you. Also loving the Self Made Minds blog… good fodder for a book!

Good to hear from you again Doug. Doing the fulltime blogging lark is certainly better than working for a living 🙂
