Build Your Own Lightsaber Kit

Lightsaber Kit

Every Jedi should know how to make their own lightsaber, but finding a Jedi master to train you is a bit tricky at the moment which is where the Force FC Lightsaber Construction set comes to the rescue.

The kit contains instructions and parts which make it possible to create a 1,000 or so different designs (in any one galaxy no two lightsabers are ever the same (okay I made that bit up)). You can change the color (red, blue or green) of your saber with the flick of a switch and they can’t do that in the films.

The Lightsaber kit is available from Play for £49.99 and Amazon.com for $99.99.

Rock Band Bundle

MTV Rock Band Special Edition

Letting gamers go beyond air guitar to fulfill their rock n’ roll fantasy, MTVs Rock Band ups the ante over Guitar Hero by including master lead guitar, drums, and a microphone for vocals to get both your grove and your game on. Very similar to Guitar Hero, the band can not only master recordings from legendary artists, they can do it in career and world tour modes.

Power Tour Guitar

Power Tour Guitar, Les Paul Edition

If your kid wants to go beyond 5 buttons and game play to grinding with a real axe with real music, the Power Tour Guitar Les Paul edition may be the perfect way for him/her to learn. The Power Tour Guitar uses lights, rather than strings, to teach the user how to play several legendary classic rock songs. The lights flash indicating where to place fingers and strumming actually plays the tune digitally. Hook it up to the optional amp and you’re ready to rock n’ roll!

Wii Light Sword: Can’t Wait

wii light sword

It is hard to believe that it has only been a year since the Wiimote has been released. Since then, Nintendo has made it a modern electronics icon. The way a user could use it as a sword in Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has eventually led to this.

Play.com is offering an attachment to your Wiimote with the Wii Light Sword. As you can see, it is a saber attachment for your Wii that uses 22 ultra bright LEDs. It is powered by 3 AA batteries which I am assuming is apart from the two AAs normally required to power the Wiimote.

Remote Control Toys Gift Guide

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

Following on from yesterdays gift guide of robot toys, we now have a guide for the big kid who loves remote control toys, suitable for all ages (especially 36 year olds), if anybody is looking at buying me a Christmas present, I’d be very happy with anything from this list, especially those near the bottom *hint, hint*.

With a lot of the remote control toys this year there seems to be something of a combat theme, so they could make a decent joint present which means you get 2 gifts for the price of one.

Time to light up that lightsaber

lightsaber-wii.jpg

Ever wished you could swish a lightsaber around in real life, only to have your on-screen avatar respond to your every command? I know I certainly did, and rabid fans of the Star Wars franchise would definitely have entertained this heroic idea at least once in their lifetime. After all, how many of us have re-enacted classic lightsaber duels with our siblings and friends even without the help of video games? Star Wars games of recent times have certainly gone a long way in letting us wave that lightsaber around, hacking down enemies and bounty hunters while deflecting laser blasts (which is pretty silly when you think about it - how come laser blasts in these games seem to travel much slower than bullets?). Unfortunately, these games use the keyboard and mouse on the computer or just a console gamepad as modes of control - you still haven’t achieved full motion control just yet. The release of the Nintendo Wii has brought about rampant speculation that a lightsaber game would make it one of the best games to be released - if executed correctly. That day has now arrived, with LucasArts announcing that a new Star Wars game on Nintendo’s hot selling Wii will take full advantage of the Wiimote’s motion sensitive controls.

Lightsaber wiimote

Is Lucasfilm bringing a light saber Wii remote to Star Wars games?

During a demonstration of LucasArts latest Star Wars video game - LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga for Wii, there was news that slipped of perhaps a motion-sensitive lightsaber action Wii remote in the offing. Could it be that gamers all over the world will be able to take their jedi fantasy up a new notch in the future? Lucas Arts has already admitted that internally, they’ve tested the possibilities.

Interactive Star Wars Light Saber Game

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

Star Wars GameI think this would be cool even if I wasn’t a Star Wars fan.

This game plugs into a television and translates actual movement into on-screen interactive lightsaber dueling from the iconic Star Wars movies. A spheroidal training droid plugs into your TV (not included) via an included RCA cable and wirelessly detects every movement of the lightsaber as you collaborate with on-screen representations of famous Jedi Knights such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Yoda to battle a host of adversaries including Jango Fett, Emperor Palpatine, and Darth Vader. At 15″ long, the lightsabers hilt is wide enough for two hands, but short enough for exuberant indoor play.

Was the spheroidal training droid only in the original, or was it also in the latest films. Anyway it would be a cool addition to any living room. If you fancy starting your Jedi training it’s available from Hammacher for $59.95. Thanks to clvezlysfor the nod.
