The Wireless Outdoor Speaker with Nightlight

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Garden lighting is nothing new or exciting, neither are splash proof speakers.  However, the combination of the two makes outdoor entertaining a bit more convenient.  It is of course only splash proof, so you can’t douse the poor speakers in water and still expect them to work.  That also means it might not be the best to leave them outside while it’s really pouring.  Which does make them a little inconvenient, but it does still have some redeeming factors.

Ghostbusters now available in USB form

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

The 1984 comedy Ghostbusters is one of the funniest movies ever made, and it will now be remembered as the first film ever to be released in USB flash drive format. PNY and Sony Pictures Entertainment recently announced plans to pre-load the film on specially marked 2GB USB drives.

The film is put on flash drive in a DRM format, so a user cannot copy it. However, you can download it to your PC in case you need your ectoplasmic fix for the day. Unfortunately, if you try and play the movie without the flash drive inserted, you will get slimed, as it will not work.

This is the first time a movie has been used to sell a flash drive, but it probably won’t be the last. Perhaps all movies will be on flash drives someday, but these flash drives should probably be some sort of special packaging. This Ghostbusters flash drive, by itself, has no branding of any kind, but it does have 12 hours of video play, 33 hours of music and 1080 picture capacity.

The Bloody Hand and Foot Wrist Rest

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

The thought of getting carpal tunnel is a terrifying one if you spend a large amount of time on the computer.  Therefore products that help prevent it become extremely necessary to prevent this from happening.  Well now you can pick up a set of two severed body parts to make sure your wrist stays well cushioned.  The foot looks a little more awkward to use, since it looks like it could be easily knocked over.  Yet, does it really matter as long as you have your fake squishy body parts to rest your wrist on?

Robot sculptures that rock and light up

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Artist Toby Atticus Fraley has lovingly handcrafted these robot sculptures from various junk that most of us wouldn’t have second thoughts when throwing them away, and they will not only spruce up the dreary condition of your living room, but light it up as well. Each of Toby’s creations are unique in their own sense, and have their own personality to boot, although you will find that old picnic coolers and vacuum cleaner parts form the majority of the body parts. Sizes vary as well, ranging from 28″ tall all the way to 58″ in height. These pieces of techno-artwork won’t come cheap though, as prices hover between the $1,800 and $1,900 points.

Sony Vaio CP1 digital photo frame

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Sony’s got its fingers dipped into the whole gamut of consumer electronics, and has just unveiled the wireless Vaio CP1 Wi-Fi photo frame that aims to make it a snap to share your favorite digital moments with family and friends, in addition to receiving news while streaming Internet radio in real time. This is clearly a step above other regular digital photo frames that does nothing but play a slideshow in a loop, while others are able to play MP3 tunes as well, but the Sony Vaio CP1 certainly goes one up on those departments with its built-in wireless connectivity.

Sony rolls out new all-in-one Vaios

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Everyone knows that Sony’s Vaio range is one that definitely breaks the bank, although they are extremely stylish to look at and won’t look out of place in any modern home. Sony isn’t stopping the momentum anytime soon, having introduced a trio of all-in-one Vaios - the JS, LV and RT desktop models. These space savers are ideal for everyday computing tasks such as word processing and number crunching, and also work great if you want to edit high definition video content. Being fashion forward does not mean Sony has ditched their computing ability - these models not only function as a PC, but double up as an HDTV and Blu-ray Disc player as well.
