Sanyo Xacti E2 waterproof camcorder

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Remember Sanyo’s waterproof Xacti E1 camcorder that was released not too long ago? This time round, the company has released a second generation model - the Xacti E2. I would assume if you lead a relatively active lifestyle, whether during the winter or summer, the Xacti E2 would be extremely convenient since it is able to function well even when underwater up to 5 feet, with a maximum underwater shelf life of an hour before it sleeps with the fishes. Of course, the Xacti E2 also works great when you go skiing or snowboarding, in addition to other water based stops like snorkeling, surfing and water-skiing.

Sony Vaio CP1 digital photo frame

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Sony’s got its fingers dipped into the whole gamut of consumer electronics, and has just unveiled the wireless Vaio CP1 Wi-Fi photo frame that aims to make it a snap to share your favorite digital moments with family and friends, in addition to receiving news while streaming Internet radio in real time. This is clearly a step above other regular digital photo frames that does nothing but play a slideshow in a loop, while others are able to play MP3 tunes as well, but the Sony Vaio CP1 certainly goes one up on those departments with its built-in wireless connectivity.

LG DP889 Digital Picture Frame/DVD Player

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

It seems like every day that I am reporting on some new Digital Picture Frame of some kind, and I usually don’t have anything new to say about them. Most of them have some sort of SD Memory Card for quick picture uploads, or you can link it to your computer via USB to upload image, audio, and video files.

Needless to say, the LG DP889 has all that, but it has something that most Digital Picture Frames don’t: a built-in DVD player. There are many other improvements that LG made to the DP889, as if the company took the idea of a digital picture frame and improved it as much as possible.

Sony Cybershot DSC-T500 digital camera

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Sony wants more and more people to adopt the High Definition lifestyle (presumably so that they can sell even more of their lovely BRAVIA line of HDTVs, but that’s another story for a different day), and their latest offering would be the Sony Cybershot DSC-T500 digital camera that does more than capture lovely looking still images - it is also able to record video in both wide and full-screen mode at 720p at 30 frames per second. In addition, this 10 megapixel shooter allows one to zoom in while recording, and is equally at home for high sensitivity shooting for natural or low light conditions.

Kodak wireless digital photo frame

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Kodak, a household name when it comes to photography, has just announced a brand new wireless digital photo frame line that will come in both 8″ and 10″ versions, capable of hooking up to photo-sharing sites such as KODAK Gallery and Flickr without the hassle of wires or the need for a computer to act as the middleman. Among the Kodak Easyshare wireless digital frame partners include Flickr, FrameChannel and Kodak Gallery as mentioned earlier. I find FrameChannel to be rather interesting as it provides users with access to the latest news, weather, traffic, sports scores and more with a single touch. In addition, FrameChannel doubles up as a portal enabling access to images from popular photo-sharing and social networking web sites.

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Nikon has just released the D700 digital SLR camera for the masses, and this will be a huge step up for those who originally stepped foot into the world of dSLRs, starting with the entry level D40. The D700 is a totally different beast altogether as it was based upon the Nikon D3 professional dSLR, boasting pro-level performance and an extensive array of features and innovations packed into a nimble platform. Not only that, it comes with the Nikon-original FX-format CMOS sensor, Nikon’s EXPEED Image Processing System, Nikon’s renowned 51-point auto focus system with 3D Focus Tracking and two Live View shooting modes, enabling shutterbugs to frame a shot with the camera’s 3″ LCD display. Other features include a new and sophisticated Scene Recognition System as well as a new active dust reduction system. More to come after the jump.
