STOP-Lock for peace of mind

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

stoplock1.jpgSo you have dropped more than a pretty penny on your new laptop, so might as well go the extra mile and put aside some more money for a physical security system. STOP-Lock from Secure-It, Inc. is one of those solutions that help prevent your latest acquisition from disappearing into thin air the moment you turn away from your table at Starbucks just to check out the local scenery. It is unique from other physical security systems in the sense where it comes complete with a tracking system and a locking mechanism, helping deter thieves from making a quick getaway.

Linux goes racing,, do you want to help?

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

I’m a racing fan, I can tell you the names of the top three finishers from last week’s Champ Car and Formula 1 Races.Linux Car

I don’t mind Kimi’s new tribal tattoo, or the fact that Will Power should be weirdly related to Scott Speed, (and possibly Dick Trickle).

Linux nut Bob Moore, marketer, race nut, and apparently fairly swell guy. Is trying to pull together the funds to sponsor a Linux Indy Car in this year’s Indianapolis 500, (if you’re not aware, it’s a small get-together of 260,000 of your closest friends to watch 33 people turn left and go really fast for 500 miles (804.672 kilometers  )).

Geekiest Tattoo Ever

Coolest Gadgets

The tricky thing about tattoos is that they are for life. Permanent. Forever inked into your body. People always talk about getting a silly tattoo, but usually that’s all just talk. Then once in awhile you hear about someone getting a really bad tattoo. My favorite bad tattoo example is either an 8-ball or a donkey on a surfboard smoking a joint. But now I guess I need to add room to that list.

This guy (see image) decided to not only get a bad tattoo, but he added a super nerdy twist to it. In case you don’t know what his head/body tattoo means, it’s a piece of HTML code currently used when making web pages. Like I said, very, very nerdy. What makes it worse is that this tattoo is on his neck. Imagine having to explain your HTML head/body tattoo to everyone over-and-over again the next time you are at a wedding or social event.

Plus think about this. Sure, today HTML is currently a commonly used computer language. But the Internet is evolving fast. I wouldn’t expect HTML to still be that relevant in the next 10 - 20 years. Hopefully techniques in laser tattoo removal will make significant some strides during the next couple decades.

Luminetx VeinViewer sees through skin

Coolest Gadgets

veinviewer.jpgHow many of you big, burly men are willing to face any danger or trial that heads your way, but when it comes to a needle prick, you cower behind the nurse’s skirt no matter how much you want to impress her with your tattoo-laden arm? Sometimes, a bad experience at the hospital or clinic could develop a phobia of needles as an intern fails to find the right vein on your arm, treating you like a pin cushion and venting his frustration on you by being less gentle with each insertion. All this can be a thing of the past now with the VeinViewer from Luminetx.
