Topside oil changer

July 12th, 2006 by Paz in Vehicle Gadgets

Topside oil changer

Frequent oil changes are essential to the long term health of any car, and this gadget should be on the wish list of anyone who wants to save money by doing their own oil changes.

If you’ve ever done a DIY oil change the old-fashioned way, I’m sure you’ll know how it goes. You’ll get dirty, probably burn yourself on the exhaust manifold, and finally get your hands and wrists covered in oil, when at last you manage to get the drain plug off!

Bamboo Headphones

July 12th, 2006 by Al in Audio/Video Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Bamboo HeadphonesIf you enjoy music, like wood, take pride in being different and have money to burn then these headphones may be for you.

This latest lot of Japanese headphones are partly made from bamboo (as in wood), you can get them in light or dark bamboo (in order to match your furniture I presume). I think they must have been made by highly paid skilled pandas as they cost $159 a pair.

Available from Dynamism found on Gadget Candy.

MEMS bad breath detector

July 11th, 2006 by Paz in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Bad breath meter.

Here’s an interesting one – it’s a bad breath detector! If you get lucky at the disco you can quickly check yourself out with the meter and buy one of those peppermint sprays if necessesary. Better still, you can hold this gadget in front of your hot date’s mouth and check to see if s/he needs to buy some mints too.

USB RC Car Simulator

July 11th, 2006 by Al in Gaming Gadgets, Remote Control Toys, Software, USB Gadgets

USB RC ControllerI’m not sure if this is cool or not. It’s a computer simulation of a remote control car with a realistic high end controller. The Controller connects via USB and is used to control the remote control car on screen.

It does look cool but I’m still left with the feeling that this type of simulation is overkill, I can understand racing games and flight sims as Mr Joe Public isn’t going to get a chance to race an F1 or fly a Tornado but a remote control car is within most peoples grasp and it’s not like there’s a risk of serious injury if you crash it.

Then again the more I look at this the more I want one, so ignore that previous rant :).

Found via Everything USB

Pocket-sized USB hard drive from Seagate

July 11th, 2006 by Paz in PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets

Samsung pocket-sized hard drive

USB sticks are OK I suppose, but I can’t wait to pack one of these Seagate portable hard drives in my pocket!

The different palm-sized portable UBS disk drives hold between 2.5 and 6 GB depending on which model you choose.

Walkie Talkie Watches

July 11th, 2006 by Liam in Electronic Gadgets, Toys

Walkie Talkie Watches

This pair of gadgets is something I would really like to try out. The Walkie Talkie Watches are two completely functional watches with all the power of a set of two-way walkie talkie radios.

To the average person they look just like an ordinary digital watch, however with the almost hidden retractable antenna, they double as two-way radios that can communicate with crystal clarity up to 3km. There are 8 channels and 38 sub channels to choose from, giving you over 300 possible secure lines of communication to ensure your privacy. There is also auto channel scanning and squelch control included.

The SpyPhone

July 11th, 2006 by Liam in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Nokia 6600

Want to keep tabs on your kids or just be a nosey friend? Then the SpyPhone may be for you!

The phone acts just like a regular cell phone, however it has a built in eavesdropping bug. The bug is activated remotely by dialing a special number, pre-programmed into the phone. When the number is called the phone doesn’t make any noise, and provides no way for the owner of the cell phone to know they’re being listened to. While the bug is activated, the phone appears to be in stand-by mode, however as soon as a button is pushed, the connection is dropped and the phone goes back to the normal active mode with no trace that anything had happened.

The Kropserkel Horse Head Pillow

July 11th, 2006 by Randal in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Horse head pillowI didn’t submit a coolest gadget post yesterday. Everywhere I looked I was gadget-blocked. Each “new” gadget I saw had already been posted or reviewed to death! There was only one place I could go, one man I could turn to – and I happened to know it was a special day for him.

As I approached the house I could see the revelers outside, it looked as though the entire family was enjoying the celebration. I made my way inside the house and to the antechamber where I paused and drew in a trembling breath, then threw open the massive wooden double doors. The room was dimly lit and I could barely make out the silhouette of the great man. I threw myself to my knees and kissed his first-run Parvus wearable wireless wrist computer.

“iPodfather, I have come to ask a favor.”
