Wireless Bullet Camera

July 13th, 2006 by Liam in Audio/Video Gadgets, Spy Stuff

Wireless Bullet Camera
When I first saw this gadget, I thought it was too good to be true! I find this gadget almost puts the Spy Sunglasses to shame. The Wireless Bullet Camera is, as assumed, a wireless camera, with a highly sensitive microphone as well for audio.

The tiny camera has a built in 2.4 GHz transmitter which almost makes you wonder where they fit all the video and audio hardware! The receiver can receive data from the transmitter up to 25m away, or 50m outdoors! The included receiver comes with all the equipment you need to hook it up to a television or monitor at a safe distance to avoid detection. There are provided adapters for both the camera and the receiver, however the camera can just as easily be powered by a 9V battery.

Mobile Masts in Airships

July 13th, 2006 by Al in Mobile Phones, Solar Powered Gear, Tech News

Airship MastEarlier this year in the UK there was a big palaver about mobile phone masts (or receivers, transmitters, what ever) being “hidden” in the signs of garage forecourts. I don’t think anything came of it, maybe ESSO lost a few pence off the share price though I’m sure they’ve made up for that and then some. A Swiss inventor has come up with a new idea that may make mobile masts a thing of the past… Read the rest of this entry »

Slipstreamz Cycling Headphones

July 13th, 2006 by Liam in Audio/Video Gadgets

Slipstreamz
I know that one of the most jolting things that can happen to you on a bike is suddenly hearing a horn blaring from behind you. I usually bike with my ear buds in, however, I find sometimes just the wind makes it hard to hear whether or not you’re about to be flattened like a pancake.

The Slipstreamz is a new gadget that allows you to listen to your music while allowing you to hear the street noise as well as blocking the wind noise! Your ear buds are connected to the ear pieces which are then attached to the straps of your helmet (so yes, it makes you stay safe as well!). They hold the ear buds just far enough out from your ears to let you hear the music, but not shut out the sounds around you. They can also block that annoying noise the wind makes while you’re whizzing down the street, and could act as ear muffs when it’s cold but you just have to be out there.

Mind Control Sensor is a Reality

July 13th, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Brain sensor that allows mind-controlA Massachusetts-based team has developed and implanted a sensor and that allows a man to control objects by thinking.

The trial has been done with Matthew Nagle who was paralysed in a knife attack 4 years ago. The technology known as neuromotor prosthesis (NMP) has allowed Matthew to:

  1. Move a computer cursor to open an e-mail
  2. Play simple computer games
  3. Open and close a prosthetic hand
  4. Use a robot limb to grasp and move objects

The uses of this technology could be of real benefit in the future and the idea of cyborgs could become a reality (just hope they’re not like the Cybermen in Doctor Who). You can read more about it over at the BBC.

CG is on a New Server

July 13th, 2006 by Al in Site News

Due to our increased traffic we have now moved Coolest Gadgets to it’s own dedicated server. Thanks to all our readers, story submitters and writers for making this upgrade necessary.

We’ve kept with the same host A Small Orange (no idea why they choose that name) who have given us outstanding support and service over the last year, they may not be the cheapest but we’ve found their excellent support second to none and well worth the money.

A massive thanks to Tim, Mack and all the support ataff at ASO who happily held my hand and made the migration as smooth as they could.

So if you’re looking for a host check them out and say we sent you.
