Free Tickets for the Digital Life Show

September 25th, 2006 by Al in Site News, Tech News

Digital Life

Digital Life is described as the ultimate consumer technology, gaming & entertainment event of the year. It’s being held in New York at the Javits Center from October 12 until October 15.

It looks like it will be a very cool event (which unfortunately I can’t attend as I’m still mid house move). Tickets normally cost $12 but I’m pleased to say CG readers can get in for free, simply go to the order tickets page and enter the Source Code “INSIDER”, hey presto free tickets :).

We’ve also been given some VIP tickets to give-away, so if you can definitely attend and would like a chance of winning a VIP ticket simply reply to this thread in the CG forum, stating your interest and I’ll add your name to the hat and I’ll draw the winners out this Sunday.

Glow In The Dark Pebbles

September 25th, 2006 by Al in Garden Gadgets, Solar Powered Gear

Glow In The Dark Pebbles These will make an interesting addition to any patio or garden, glow in the dark pebbles. By day they look like ordinary stones but at night they glow like radioactive elements.

The pebbles charge up during the day and will glow for up to 6 hours at night, so when you roll in from the pub you’ll be able to see the pathway to stagger down rather than demolishing the nearby flower bed.

You can get 350 glow in the dark pebbles from Collections Etc. for $9.99 [found via eco friend]

Aquapac MP3 case

September 25th, 2006 by Marc in Audio/Video Gadgets, Gadget Reviews, iPod gadgets

Aquapac
Aquapac are a company who make … umm… plastic bags? Well yes, but these are not your ordinary bag. Aquapac cases are designed to protect your fragile consumer electronics from water (hence the name). If you’re a regular visitor to the beach you’ll appreciate that water and sand can really make a mess of your gadgets! These guys make a range of waterproof bags to cater for different appliances (including phones, cameras and PDA’s) but the one I’m looking at today is the new MP3 player case.

Slim Pad - laptop for kids

September 24th, 2006 by Tiago in PC Gadgets

Slim Pad

This Slim Pad also known as small-version-of-a- laptop can be the perfect presents for kids to learn something new everyday, or for parents that want to force the kids to do so. One of the things I like about it is the fact of the screen is detachable and when that happens it becomes a touch pad instead of a normal monitor, but kids and sticky fingers from food/cookies are a match so the touch sensitive screen idea might not be a good one.

Panasonic DL-GWN lighted toilet seat

September 24th, 2006 by Edwin in Home Gadgets

panasonic-gl-dwn.jpgPeeing in the wee hours (no pun intended) of the morning is rather problematic for certain segments of the population as they do not have the laser-guided equipment that George Bush Jr. has at his disposal. After all, nobody is at his best frame of mind to calculate complex trigonometry formulas in order to obtain the correct trajectory required to aim in the correct place without wetting the entire toilet seat (with much chagrin to his partner) as well as himself.

Keychain Camera

September 24th, 2006 by Tiago in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Photography

Keychain Camera

Very small cameras with good specifications are hard to see, but this Keychain Camera is suppose to be different (in a good way).

To start with, this camera is tiny, if the dimensions (1.5×2.5×0.75 inches) don’t give you an idea of how small it is, I can inform that it is shorter in length and weight when compared to a credit card. Maybe it’s better if you check it yourself, so visit Sizeasy and add the size that I previously mentioned (the one in brackets) to compare with other items.

Energy Power Meter

September 24th, 2006 by Marc in Miscellaneous Gadgets

kwh meter

We’re all geeks here - that means we run a whole stack of things with flashing lights and they all use power. After receiving a particularly heavy electricity bill last month I invested in one of these kWh meters to see where the power was going. This model is UK specific but the same sort of device can be found for any country.

The device measures watts, volts, amps and kilowatt-hours and if you enter the price of your electricity it will also tell you exactly how much your toys are costing you.

So where was my power going? Read on but prepare to be scared :-) Read the rest of this entry »
