Samsung pushes the HD quality envelope with new camcorder

May 10th, 2008 by James in Audio/Video Gadgets

SC-HMX20 HD camcorder

Samsung’s new SC-HMX20 HD camcorder shoots in full high definition of 1920 × 1080 thanks to a 6.4-megapixel CMOS sensor that also has a stunning 8-megapixel still camera capability. It can also shoot what’s called super slow motion at 300 frames per second. Wow. That’s enough to help me with my golf swing or those overdue balloon bursting physics experiments for school.

American Idol fans who wish to live the fantasy while watching their favorite Idols sing it out may want to check out the Karoke Groove Station. A USB Drive You Can Hang On The Clothesline

May 9th, 2008 by AndrewD in USB Gadgets

nr2.jpg

As you sit at home with all of your big expensive appliances, it’s hard to contemplate that there are still plenty of people who still dry their clothes the old fashion way, by hanging their wet laundry on a clothesline. The Spincaz is a USB drive which reminds us of the simple ways of doing things we take for granted.

The Spincaz acts as any other wooden clip would. You can attach it to your clothes for a humorous garment accessory, or even hang it out to dry in the air with your clothes. Though hanging an electronic on a wet rag is probably not the best idea if you feel like using your USB drive again at some point.

French Fry Car Holder For Frequent Fast Food Eaters

May 9th, 2008 by AndrewD in Vehicle Gadgets

french-fry-holder.jpg

Fast food started as the great American tradition, but has evolved into a worldwide phenomenon. The food might be absolutely terrible for you, but what it lacks in nutritional facts, it makes up for in yumminess and price. Some people say they don’t like the taste of fast food, and they’d be lying. The food is greasy, caloric, but delicious.

The invention of the drive-thru led to even faster ways to obtaining a meal on-the go and companies are starting to ride the meal train all the way to the bank. Available through the Improvements Catalog, this cupholder-mounted French Fry Holder is living proof that fast food is here to stay, despite the surge of health-conscious eaters.

NES Controller Coffee Table

May 9th, 2008 by Mark R in DIY Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets

NES Controller Coffee Table

As you know, Coolest Gadgets has several categories for its subject matter. Even though I flagged this article under “DIY Gadgets” and “Gaming Gadgets”, I should have categorized it as “I just couldn’t resist reporting on this”.

I’m sure you can see why from the photo. For young inventor Kyle Downes (not the person in the photo) has actually perfected shrink-ray technology, and has reversed the process to create a giant NES controller.

Just kidding. Mr. Downes may be smart, but he’s not that smart. He has fashioned a cool coffee table that is shaped like an old-school NES controller. I’m sure we would all have to agree that the boy’s got skills.

Not only does the coffee table look like an NES, you can play it like an NES. That’s right, feel free to plug in Super Mario Brothers or Battletoads and have a big-button frenzy.

See through Post-it Notes

May 9th, 2008 by Mark R in Office Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

See through Post-it Notes

This next device just screams “why didn’t I think of this earlier”? Sure, see-through Post-it Notes don’t seem like such a great scientific achievement in comparison to the light bulb or the polio virus, but it has been a long time coming.

All you need to do is just place the Sheer Post-it notes on the text that you want to stand out, and mark it up all you want! No more highlighting something and diminishing a book’s resale value. This will also come in handy on books that you checked out from the library and need to mark up for research purposes.

Fool burglars with a realistic security camera with working LEDs

May 9th, 2008 by Chris in Electronic Gadgets, Audio/Video Gadgets

Fake Security Camera

If you own a small business or just have a lot of valuables in your home, you’ve probably considered purchasing a couple of security cameras. Unfortunately such things cost money, and thus aren’t always an option. If you’re only mildly concerned that people are going to try and break into your place, why not get a couple of dummy cameras instead?
