The Wobbler

November 16th, 2009 by Edwin in Home Gadgets

wobblerForget about games that rely on reflexes as you always lose out to your siblings – how about the Wobbler instead? This game focuses on other parts (which is hopefully your strength), where it boosts balance and coordination while playing.

This game is so challenging and entertaining, everyone will want to play! It’s modeled after the wobble board used by physical therapists to help develop balance, increase lower limb strength and overcome leg injuries. Use the blue base as one game—see if you can guide one ball from the outer ring through the gates into the central cup, then back to the outer ring. In another game, place the yellow three-hole tray atop the base and just try to place (and keep) one ball in each of the three holes.

The Wobbler is definitely a classic case of easier said than done, retailing for $39.95 each.

3D Interactive Smart Globe

November 16th, 2009 by Edwin in Childrens Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets

3d-interactive-smart-globeFor parents who want to make sure that their kids get a decent head start in life when it comes to education, the 3D Interactive Smart Globe might help in their quest a wee bit, at least from the geographical point of view.

Simply pick up the remote-control Smart Pen and get started – touching the control panel and any country will give you masses of useful info about whatever you touch. Currency, capital cities, national anthems, history, current leaders, in fact, anything you could conceivably want to know about world geography. We rather loved the ‘find the city’ game, where the globe announces city names and you have to find them and touch them with the magic pen as fast as possible – and there are loads of other games that had us wasting way too much time (but in an educational way). There are around 30 other similar games to keep you on your toes, too. What’s more, the pull-out map of the UK reveals another surface the Smart Pen can tell you about in great detail.

This interactive educational toy is much better than a regular textbook or encyclopedia – after all, you don’t have to fork out money every few years to update the information within as that can be done electronically through a USB cable that is hooked up to your computer. All you need to do is register your globe online, and your Smart Pen will immediately start to receive world news updates and any information changes. Truly fascinating, and for just £99.99, we’d say this is money well spent.

H1N1 Destroying UV Wand

November 16th, 2009 by Edwin in Medical Gadgets

h1n1-wandWhile vaccines for the H1N1 flu virus is ready to be used, not all countries are going to get it. Still, the initial fear of catching this potentially fatal virus has somewhat died down, with less and less people being seen wearing face masks these days when outdoors. As for folks who do not want to take the chance, there is the H1N1 Destroying UV Wand from Hammacher to help you out.

This UV wand eliminates the H1N1 virus from surfaces using safe UV-C light – the same technology trusted to sanitize hospital surfaces. Tests performed by an independent antimicrobial testing laboratory showed the wand destroyed 99.98% of the H1N1 virus after a five-second exposure when held 3/4″ above the contaminated surface. Also capable of killing MRSA, mold, and dust mites, the UV-C light penetrates viral and bacterial membranes and destroys their DNA, rendering the microorganisms incapable of reproduction and survival. Unlike liquid disinfectants, UV-C light can sanitize keyboards, upholstered furniture, cell phones, or any delicate surface that harbors germs. The cordless wand shuts off automatically if the light is turned upward. Operates for 90 minutes after an eight-hour charge via AC.

$69.95 for the H1N1 Destroying UV Wand sure beats paying hefty hospital bills if you were to be admitted, but what are the odds of you catching it? Also, isn’t this a case of being a little too late? We’re pretty sure it might’ve done much better when released at the peak of the virus’ spread.

Bladefish Sea Scooters

November 15th, 2009 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Sport, Vehicle Gadgets

bladefish

What has taken years of development has resulted in a self-proclaimed “best underwater propulsion device” that is available in the market, making it the ultimate underwater scooter for both divers and snorkelers. Yes, the Bladefish Sea Scooters are capable of pumping out a whole lot more power compared to its predecessors that relied on lead acid propulsion.

Unlike them, these new models can be recharged in a fraction of the time and can be easily carried as hand luggage. They’re also much smaller than their leaden predecessors and are highly manoeuvrable and compact. All models include computer controlled circuitry, double seals and a battery life meter.

You will be able to pick up the Bladefish 1000, Bladefish 2000 and Bladefish 5000 for £245.99, £299.99 and £479.99, respectively. Needless to say, the more money you fork out, the faster you’re able to travel while underwater, but it is safe to say that none of these will help you outswim any predatory shark looking for a human fillet…

Cellphone Backup Device saves numbers

November 15th, 2009 by Ally in Mobile Phones

Recently I’ve decided to switch cellphones, my old phone can only be dropped so many times before it finally starts looking a bit ragged.  I’m now not exactly looking forward to the joys of punching in all of my numbers into a new phone.  We’ve all had to do it before, in many cases it’s happened several times over the years.  It’s just what you have to do, so you deal with it.  Well instead of adding in those numbers one by one, you can have a gadget to transfer all that data for you.  It’ll store all of your numbers and can transfer it to your new phone if you get a new one or your old is lost or stolen.

November 15th, 2009 by Ally in Audio/Video Gadgets

att7319-300x154

Staying warm while listening to your music isn’t always the easiest thing.  It is entirely possible to wear a hat over the top of your ear or headphones.  However, it’s not exactly comfortable and in some cases it’s far from making you look good.  Well if these beanies are more your style, you could get the best of both worlds.  You’ll be plenty warm and still be able to comfortably listen to your favorite tunes.
