Ectaco jetBook Color to be seen at CES
Like I mentioned yesterday, those who are aiming for an e-book reader sometime down the road tend to have limited choices simply because a tablet is far more popular, and tablets tend to be able to double up as e-book readers (although the display might not be too suitable for reading for hours on end), but an e-book reader is more or less good for only one thing – that is, to enable you to read digital books on the go with a display that is easy on your eyes.
There are some major players around like the Nook Color from Barnes & Noble and Amazon Kindle, but there are others in the market as well. Among them would be Ectaco, and the company will be presenting the long awaited jetBook Color at CES (in Hong Kong, according to the press release) as well as the International Book Fair in Frankfurt from October 12th onwards. To know more about the jetBook Color, read on after the jump.

AT&T partners with Amber Alert GPS
Gone are the days when you can trust your little one to have some fun outdoors without worrying yourself silly over whether there is some weirdo out there who is stalking your kid. This has led to a growth in the market of child security, where devices such as kid-friendly cell phones as well as emergency buzzers have been released, and this time around we have mobile carrier AT&T work with Amber Alert GPS to deliver the V3 child tracking device.
This particular device is said to be able to keep parents notified of the current location of their children so that they need not worry themselves to a head full of white hair, but rather, let nature take its course. Just how flexible is the V3? Well, for starters, parents are able to create “Zones” around their home, neighborhood, school, soccer field – basically a perimeter along a selected area, and be on the receiving end of an email or text alert whenever their child enters or exits a Zone.

Jaybird Wireless Bluetooth Buds
For some reason, a lot of wireless headphones designed for the sporting crowd tend to follow this new trend of dual earbuds with a behind the neck wire.
I am talking about wireless earphones such as the Jabra SPORT, and the latest to join the crowd is the Jaybird Wireless Bluetooth Buds. What makes them different? They have a lifetime warranty against sweat. Oh, if only everything had such a guarantee.
I got a chance to try it out, and the sound is quite good. It also has a microphone for taking calls. The buds have 3 sizes of ear tips, as well as 3 sizes of fit ear cushions. This insures that these buds will stay in the ears under active conditions.

I Want SCANDY! To scan my documents with my smartphone!
In case you missed the joke in the title of this posting, it is an allusion to a song called “I Want Candy” by 80′s band Bow Wow Wow.
The SCANDY is a very cool device that allows you to scan a document with a smartphone. This is something that I have done before at libraries. I find that when I do this, I can’t help but feel like a cold war spy snapping pictures of secret documents with my spy camera. Of course, I do it with my smartphone, and it does slide together like those old spy cameras from movies.
It is difficult to hold a smartphone camera steady when taking pictures of documents this way, which is why SCANDY can literally screw in to the side of the table. There is a video of it at my Source if you want to see it in action.

Bookeen delivers Cybook Odyssey
When it comes to e-book readers, we aren’t exactly spoilt for choice compared to those who are on the lookout for a tablet for their needs. The world of e-book readers are not exactly brimming with new models, but that does not mean you have little or no options. No sir, a company like Bookeen has its fair share of e-book readers in the market which are already decent enough for everyday use, but to rest on their laurels is not something the company would do. Hence the Cybook Odyssey from Bookeen – read on to know more about the hardware specifications, but don’t ask about the price point since there is no word on it just yet.
What makes the Cybook Odyssey so special from the rest of the pack? For starters, this is touted to be the first e-book reader from the company that sports High Speed Ink System (HSIS) technology. This is no fly-by-night technology, as it apparently took a couple of years of development to create that is said to revolutionize the electronic ink display industry. With the HSIS, the Cybook Odyssey can be said to be a pioneer when it comes to making way for a new generation of e-Readers that are touted to be faster, more reactive and more fluid.

Heated Egg Massager
There is nothing quite like the feeling of a nice, warm massage after a particularly long hard day at work, and if you’re going to get some massaging done in the comfort of your home, then the £14.99 Egg Massager makes perfect sense. This unique Egg Massager will not be able to change colors like a lava lamp, but it will still provide you with some much needed relief. Considering the shape and size of this device, it is a snap to control and comfortable to hold for an instant massage session.
Comprising of a couple of interchangable massage heads that deliver single point or multi point massage, there is also a heat function in the single point massager which will further increase blood circulation. Of course, I would advise you to get ready your fair share of rechargeable AAA batteries – it requires a trio of these to power up the Heated Egg Massager, and if you’re going to spend plenty of time with it, why not make sure you be as green as possible?
