Outdoor Misting System

August 3rd, 2006 by Liam in Garden Gadgets, Home Gadgets

Outdoor Misting System
I don’t know about other places, but it has been very hot where I live lately. If you want a great way to beat the heat but still stay outside and enjoy your yard, an Outdoor Misting System could be just what you need.

This system cools the air around any outdoor area by shooting up a fine mist. This can cool your summer space by up to 20 degrees fahrenheit so you can comfortably enjoy a deck, patio or whatever you want.

Included in one kit is 10 feet of mist line as well as 15 feet of supply line so you don’t need to have your mist area right next to your house. If 10 feet of mist isn’t enough to cool your area down, you can buy additional kits and attach them together to create up to 100 feet of mist!

Teaching Chess Pieces

Chess Teacher

I’ve just got back from my much needed annual vacation, so thanks to Liam, Randal and Alexia (just :)) for keeping the cool gadget posts flowing in my absence. Whilst on vacation I taught my 9 year old daughter how to play chess, she picked it up really quick but it would of been so much easier with these learning chess pieces.

Mirror Block Clock

August 3rd, 2006 by Al in Cool Clocks, Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets

Block lock

If you thought the wood block clock was cool but find wood is not modern enough to your liking then this may be more to your taste, the Mirror Block LED clock.

It uses the same technology and offers the same features (time and programmable messages) as the Wall Mirror Clock we reported on but this one just has that extra cool factor IMO.

It’s currently only available as a special edition so costs £600.00 ouch!

Computer Rear View Mirror

August 2nd, 2006 by Liam in PC Gadgets

Computer Rear View Mirror
This gadget is quite self-explanatory, however it’s a great idea. If you’ve ever been startled by someone coming up behind you and reading what you have on the screen, especially if it’s not something you’d like them to see ;), then you could benefit from a rear view mirror on your computer. It easily hooks onto your monitor so you can have eyes on the back of your head while at your workspace.

You can pick one up for just £4.45 from Ministry of Gadgets.

ScareCrow Sprinkler

August 2nd, 2006 by Liam in Garden Gadgets, Home Automation

ScareCrow Sprinkler
If you want a humane, effective, and funny way to get rid of crows or other pesky animals that come onto your property so you can save your garden from being eaten or keep animals out of your garbage you may want to consider the ScareCrow Sprinkler. This automatic motion-detecting sprinkler will help you keep pests off of your lawn, and I think the reaction that you would get from animals when a jet of water suddenly shot out at them would be priceless, not to mention keep them away from your lawn for a long time.

You just have to set it up anywhere in your yard and attach it to your home’s water supply. It requires no external power as it can last for 6 months on a single 9 volt battery! It’s also very water-conserving as one detection only uses 2-3 cups of water.

Handy Digital Voice Recorder

August 2nd, 2006 by Liam in Audio/Video Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

Digital Voice Recorder
This is a really neat gadget which can help bring note-to-self’s into the new digital era. This digital voice recorder is shaped like a remote but can hold large amounts of audio which help you organize your life or keep track of conversations.

If you find that you are often forgetting things but don’t like notepads as they’re too old-fashioned and time-consuming for you, then maybe the way to go is digital voice! It’s great as you can record separate files of clips which makes it so much easier than analog recorders. It’s also much more versatile so you can transfer your recorded between any digital devices such as computers or MP3 players. You can even put your recorded bits of audio into two separate folders to better organize your life.

Ant Farm

August 2nd, 2006 by Stephen in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Ant FarmDo your kids pester you continuously about getting a pet but you don’t want the hassle of cleaning or walking it? I might have the solution for you. You could own your very own ant farm!

You can watch ants live and burrow into highly nutritious, non-toxic gel creating a maze of patterns. The gel enabled NASA scientists to study how ants and animals behave in space and see how they react to zero gravity. Now you can conduct your very own observations.
