Submersible Wireless Headphones

May 29th, 2006 by Al in Sport

Waterproof headphones

Normally it isn’t very practicle to listen to music and swim at the same time. You can get waterproof cases for your iPod but personally I wouldn’t take my MP3 player swimming with me in the hope that the latest case was fully waterproof. Well there is now a solution where your iPod stays on dry land as you take a dip; the Sportzjam waterproof wireless headphones.

LawnMower + Transformer = Pac a Mow

May 28th, 2006 by Al in Garden Gadgets

Transformer MowerThe only lawn mower I’d expect to post on here would have to be of the robotic kind, well that changed after seeing the Flymo Pac a Mow. The Pac a Mow is the a result of what happens when you let your designers watch Transformers Robots in Disguise a little bit too much.

The Pac a Mow is actually a bit of a sensible idea, if you’ve ever tried to cram a lawn mower into an already full shed you’ll know where I’, coming from with this. Instead of having handles, boxes and cables sticking out all over the place the “Pac a Mow” transforms into an easily managed box shaped garden appliance when not in use.

This does seems a bit too boring and sensible sort of gadget to mention here but hey Transformers are cool. Normal useless but fun gadget reporting will resume after this short break :).

OLED Lighting (Windows that light-up)

May 27th, 2006 by Al in Home Gadgets

flat light source OLEDs

OLEDs (organic light-emitting devices) could be the household light source of the future but instead of having a boring old bulb in the middle of the ceiling any surface could be giving off life.

An Organic LED is like a transparent sheet when turned off but when powered gives off light. This could mean windows act like normal windows during the day but at night the windows become the light which just seems kind of cool.

You can read more about the technology on Smart Economy and find out how OLED’s work on How Stuff Works.

A guy bought a laptop on Ebay, that allegedy wasn’t up to the specifications advertised, came without a charger and simply didn’t work. After unsuccessfully trying to get his money back, he took out the laptop’s hard disk and had a look.

Apparently, he found personal details, adult pictures, sneaky hidden camera shots and much more. He published the whole lot on the net.

Stop Eavesdropping Snooping Colleagues

May 26th, 2006 by Al in Electronic Gadgets, Spy Stuff

Babble boxesI used to have a work colleague who would annoyingly eavesdrop on private conversations. There wasn’t much you could do about it short of taking calls outside or whispering down the phone (which he used to do funnily enough). So I read with interest, about a technology solution to the problem, the Babble.
