LukWerks wireless video security

January 10th, 2007 by Marc in CES 2007, Home Gadgets

Home security is a growing business, and as the value of our contents increases (when we keep buying toys :-) ) the need to look after them becomes greater. LukWerks are demonstrating a neat video security system this year that will appeal to the tech-oritented consumer.

The system includes a variety of different cameras for different uses - indoor, outdoor and a “spy” camera housed in a desk clock. The cameras transmit their video signal via the power cables to a central distribution box, so there are no LAN cables and no wifi interference problems to worry about. The hub connects to a PC via USB and streams the incoming video off to windows media files.

Kleer’s iPod Nano Adapter gives you wireless audio

January 10th, 2007 by Mike in Audio/Video Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, iPod gadgets

Kleer iPod Nano Adapter
Nobody has really done wireless headphones right. In a best case scenario, the adapter is built right into your device and all you have to do is pop tiny wireless buds into your ears. We’re still not there yet, at least not on most devices, but there are some decent accessories on the horizon that will give you wireless audio, one being Kleer’s new Wireless iPod Nano Adapter.

MonsterPod camera limpet

January 10th, 2007 by Marc in CES 2007, Photography

2007_01_10img_7598.jpg

They don’t call it a limpet, they call it a “Viscoelastic Gravity Defying Tripod”. But it is a limpet nonetheless. Press it firmly down onto just about anything, attach a point and shoot camera and you’re good to go. You can even stick it to a ceiling if you want. Neat! More information from omegasatter.com

Spot the speaker in this picture

January 9th, 2007 by Marc in Audio/Video Gadgets, CES 2007

2007_01_09speakersspeaker.jpg

OK, it was a trick question. Everything in this picture hides a speaker of some sort, from satellite to subwoofer. Unfortunately when I took the photo there was nobody around to ask and no brochures in evidence, but from the big sign I’m guessing that these are from Audiovox. (someone correct me if I’m wrong!)

Eleksen are a technology company making the “smart fabrics” that are starting to appear in clothing and bags. If you see a jacket with iPod controls on the sleeve there’s a fair chance it’s powered by Elekson and we spent a bit of time at their booth this afternoon exploring the technology.

Shadownumber

January 9th, 2007 by Marc in Mobile Phones

One of the perils of walking around a trade show is that people will walk the isles shovelling random leaflets into your hands as you navigate the show floor. Such was the case with Shadownumber. Much as services like Mailexpire can give you a one time email address, so Shadownumber gives you a temporary extra phone number attached to your existing mobile line.

Neat enough idea although I’m not sure you just shouldn’t be more careful who you give your number to in the first place! If I’m reading it right it’s 30 bucks a month so you’d have to really want it but you can see the details for yourself at www.shadownumber.com
