New Vaio Laptops - Type C, F and G

January 16th, 2007 by Tiago in PC Gadgets

Vaio Type C

The laptop manufacturer also known as Vaio (subbrand of Sony) has come up with a couple of new and interesting notebooks, of the new 5 devices I will only mention 3 but there are different settings that can please everyone you know - and don’t know.

So, lets start with the Vaio Type C which seems to be the most colorful option. In this model I think they went more for the looks instead of performance, this can be a good or bad factor depending on your ability to judge a computer.

There are 6 different colors you can choose from, including: black, pink, white, light blue, gray and light green; on the technical specifications the “Type C” has a couple of interesting options:

Wires?! We don’t need no stinking Wires!!! (thanks to Bluetooth)

January 16th, 2007 by Fred in Audio/Video Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, iPod gadgets

The folks at Jabra are being nice to us. They’re trying to make our lives easier.

Fools!!

No, wait,, that’s exactly what we want!

We want gadgets that make our gadgets work better. They’ve really got some now, with more on the way. It’s a pair of headphones that work with your phone.
Buy them here for $89.99

The obviously sweet bit about these headphones (yes, the look is standardized iPod white) is that they receive bluetooth inputs from your bluetooth enabled phone.

Better than that (those those are out there and available now). Is this new unit recently announced that is entirely wireless! (well except for the cord connecting the two earpieces).

So maybe not cordless, how about Cord.

Their new Jabra BT8010 is just what the doctor ordered, read on for more naughty goodness and sweet pics.

MAYO - Furniture for Kids

January 16th, 2007 by Al in Childrens Gadgets, Home Gadgets

MAYO Kids Furniture

Furniture can be pretty boring, especially for kids. That is until you see the MAYO with it’s bright Googleish colors it’s sure to fire your child’s imagination whether they’re leaning on it, sleeping with it or riding it.

The MAYO is the brainchild of a young Indonesian designer, you can find more info and the rest of his portfolio over at coroflot.

Weird Underwear

January 16th, 2007 by Dan in Miscellaneous Gadgets

underease.jpgThere is a strange list over the American Inventors Spot site covering “Underwear that is funny to wear”. I don’t think I would have fun wearing that stuff, but some of the items on that list made me crack up laughing, check it out!

Sac Free Underwear: check out the manufacturers description: “A new dimension of comfort and liberty for your balls. In former times there were boxer shorts or slips. Today there is sacfree®, the first boxerslip of the world…Sacfree® will bring a pleasant feeling of liberty”. Is this priceless or what?

Flatulence Filtering Underwear: man I know some people who could definitely use that stuff. Those boxers have a very innovative filter on the back, and all the flatulence is forced to pass through it since the boxers are air-tight. By the way the heavy users out there do not need to worry about the filter getting clogged after a couple of months, it is replaceable! Read the rest of this entry »

Making Cash Puzzle Gifts

January 16th, 2007 by Al in Gadget Gift Ideas, Toys

Money Maze Gift

I always think it’s a bit of a cop out giving people cash or gift certificates as presents (though if somebody wants to shower me with cash I won’t complain) and besides choosing the gift is half the fun. I came across a cool compromise today, the Money Maze.

With the money maze the recipient has to navigate a ball bearing around a maze before they can get at the enclosed monetary gift, so they’ve got to work for their pressie (it may be an idea to hand over the gift after they’ve had a few Birthday drinkies :))

The money maze is available from Firebox for £11.95, but make sure you’ve got enough cash left to put in it.

MoGo Wireless Bluetooth Mouse

January 16th, 2007 by methodshop in Gadget Reviews, USB Gadgets

The MoGo Wireless Mouse is a business-card sized, Bluetooth-enabled mouse that stores and recharges neatly inside (yes, inside…) your laptop’s PC card slot. To recharge your MoGo Mouse, just slide it into the empty PC card slot in your laptop. It will fully recharge in less than an hour and provide you with enough power for about 8 or 9 hours of use.

As you can imagine, the MoGo Mouse is specifically designed for people who spend a lot of time traveling like writers, reporters and sales reps. Other mice, even those meant for travelers, usually don’t cut it. Mini-mice (aka “walnut shells”) get lost in your hand and are difficult to maneuver, and the idea of carrying a full-sized mouse defeats the entire purpose of mobility on the go.

The MoGo Mouse is a natural fit for road warriors. Storing it inside you PC Card (PCMCIA) slot is pure genius and the fact that it charges there is just the icing on the cake. The only thing I’d like to see in future models is a scroll wheel. I know that the size of it makes it hard to have a wheel but maybe a touch wheel, like one some laptops, could have been possible.

“an excellent tool for the road warrior or… minimalist.” ~ GetUSB.info

If you spend a lot of time on the road with your laptop, then the MoGo Wireless Mouse will just make your life easier.

Today’s mild Apple TV, brouhaha, brought to you by it’s competitors.

January 15th, 2007 by Fred in Miscellaneous Gadgets

So the Apple TV, the other thing released the same day as the iPhone (you, uhhh, may have been distracted at the time, but good old Stevie J did mention it first!) I even blogged it live (not that you were reading it).

So let’s face it, we all have, and, or want:

PVR (tivo, you know digital recording and playback of TV (in HD hopefully)

To view and listen to anything we have in our iTunes or video player

To watch TV (is that too hard?)

Wireless computer to TV connection

Using your TV and computer simultaneously

Your photos on tv with music (at least you can finally watch pictures of someone else’s kids and do it happily along with anything by Ozzie Osbourne!)

I should note in advance, the delightful humans at PVRwire really helped here, read on for all the fun competitors to the Apple TV that can save you a buck or two hundred.

Sansa Connect, the new iPod killer

January 15th, 2007 by Dan in Audio/Video Gadgets, CES 2007

sansa.jpgIt looks like SandDisk is not messing around to get its Sansa players out on the market. The flash memory manufacturer presented in fact the Sansa Connect MP3 player over this year’s CES, and it received a lot of positive feedback.

The new player comes with a 2,2 inch TFT color screen, an internal speaker and flash memory instead of hard disks. The really innovative feature, however, is the Wi-Fi connectivity. The Sansa will be able to connect to the Internet from any open wireless hotspot, creating a myriad of new opportunities. Read the rest of this entry »
