Motorized Inversion Table

by Edwin - on October 19, 2011

Since we live in an era where most things are motorized or at least have some sort of robotics function built-in, don’t you think it makes sense to have a Motorized Inversion Table as well for fitness buffs? This rather unique inversion table will be able to gently recline and return to its upright position at the touch of a button. Just what benefits does inversion therapy bring to the table? For starters, it helps alleviate back pain through the decompression of the spine, helping relieve pressure on nerves as well as realign the ligaments that support the back.

There is also an adjustable rotation control to make sure you are able to achieve your ideal angle of incline, even being completely inverted if you will, in a single, smooth motion driven by the quiet motor. In addition to that, the vented, injection-molded plastic bed will further reduce friction in order for the body to readjust itself comfortably. Hammacher’s offering also throws in patented padded ankle closures to the mix so that your legs can be held securely. If you decide to go manual, just turn off the motor and you’re good to go.

The asking price? We’re looking at a rather hefty $1,500.

BlueAnt’s Q2 Bluetooth Headset

by Mark R - on October 18, 2011

BlueAnt has made a very big boast, as they claim that the Q2 is “the best sounding Bluetooth headset ever built”.

I don’t know if it is safe to say that, but the Q2 does have some great things going for it. The Q2 has some really high quality speakers that were precision tuned and tested in a professional sound studio with other advanced equalization technology thrown in.

It also has state-of-the-art noise elimination and intelligent adaptive controls, for loud sound without the distortion in the background. In other words, your voice will be heard no matter what goes on in the background.

The Hundreds X Hex Wallet keeps your iPhone and money slim

by Mark R - on October 18, 2011

Some of you might remember when we covered the Callet, a Gel-Polymer covering for an iPhone that has pockets in the back for credit cards.

The Hundreds X Hex Wallet is essentially the same concept, but a lot fancier. The Hex Wallet is a pocket sized phone holder with a leather cover with pockets for credit cards with an elastic strap to keep it safely closed.

I have to admit that this is a pretty classy cover for the iPhone 4/4S. Especially with the “Jags” pattern that looks like funky alligator skin, not to mention the Adam Bomb graphic that you have to see for yourself.

CarMD lets you diagnose your vehicle, not your mechanic

by Mark R - on October 18, 2011

If you are like me, you might not know a lot about your car. If you are not the type who wants to trust in an auto mechanic, you might want to look into CarMD.

CarMD is a simple device that plugs into the 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) that is usually found on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Once it is plugged in, running a diagnostic is as easy as turning the vehicle’s ignition on and the device does all the work.

The CarMD includes lifetime software and firmware updates with free access to CarMD’s database. The handheld device can be plugged into a computer, and the software will generate a personalized Vehicle Health Reports. These reports reveal safety issues or recalls, and will be able to tell you what’s wrong with the car. It will even figure out the cost of parts and labor in your zip code.

Lego bricks used to make Segway of sorts

by Edwin - on October 18, 2011

We do know that those with a vivid imagination are able to construct some interesting stuff using nothing but Lego bricks, and there has been some pretty special creations conjured in the past. Well, humans being humans with our creativity, there are always better things to come in the future – case in point, Lego bricks being used to create a ‘Segway” of sorts. This is not something that will be able to ferry humans around, but it is still enough to keep children and curious adults alike mesmerized.

Also known as the dIMU (Dexter Industries Inertial Motion Unit) Inertial Motion Sensor, the creation of this device will obviously require the presence of an accelerometer as well as a gyroscope, working in tandem with the Lego Mindstorms NXT. Fully capable of measuring acceleration, tilt, and rotation on all 3 axes, this allows you to construct Lego robots that are able to balance itself on a couple of wheels, measure the rate of acceleration and have an idea on which way is up so that it will not topple over. Read more about this little wonder in the extended post.

LG Display sets another world record with 55″ Public Display Panel

by Edwin - on October 18, 2011

When it comes to world records, some companies do chase after them in an effort to gain recognition. I would not classify LG Display as one of them, although it does not hurt that on occasion, LG Display does include a fair number of improvements to their releases that do take the cake at the top of the world. Case in point, their latest 55″ Public Display Panel that is also said to boast of the world’s narrowest bezel.

Just how narrow is it? You might want to take a seat first before getting the dimensions. This new public display panel will feature just a 5.3 mm gap (left/right: 3.4 mm, top/bottom: 1.9 mm) right between individual panels whenever they are placed alongside one another. Sounds like a dream, no? This would definitely provide advertising companies and firms who want to promote their stuff to put on display a generous 165″ multi-screen public display. At that kind of size, your eyes will catch seamless, life-like images without irritatingly fat bezel lines. I suspect that CES 2012 will have its fair share of such a setup, starting with the LG booth itself.

StarBath helps you soak up the atmosphere

by Edwin - on October 18, 2011

While some of us love waking up early and greeting the day with the rising of the sun, others prefer a more subdued way of being in ‘the zone’, especially when dusk falls and the stars come out to dance all over the night sky. There is just something indescribable about the peaceful feeling one experiences when seated on the verandah, looking up into a clear night sky. For those who prefer the warmth of their bedrooms and yet do not want to draw the curtains open to look out the window, there is the £34.99 StarBath.

Basically, the StarBath is a tiny planetarium that is capable of projecting the Milky Way and thousands of stars right up on your ceiling, letting you relax under their perceived twinkling – while you remain nice and toasty under that comfort blanket of yours. As it is battery-powered, there is no need to mess about with a power cable, although I would recommend getting rechargeable AAA batteries if you’re going to use this often.

Up to 10,000 stars are displayed via its LED, where it has a projection distance of 150cm to 230 cm, while sporting a projection range of around 100cm in diameter. I suppose by the time the quartet of AAA batteries run out (3 hours thereabouts), you would have fallen asleep already.

Lean Mean Green Machine

by Edwin - on October 18, 2011

I know that the movie Green Lantern did not exactly make it big at the box office, but if you went to watch it without any expectations, then you would probably enjoy yourself somewhat with all the corny lines. Somehow superheroes tend to have hang ups in their relationships, don’t you think so? But I digress – being a Lantern, you can basically will anything and everything into existence, but for those times when you’re tired of doing so, perhaps it would bode well for Hal Jordan to have this $75,000 Lean Mean Green Machine sitting in his garage.

This 9′ long, three-wheeled motorcycle was inspired by the Green Machine, which is the classic big-wheeled pedaled tricycle that hailed from the 1970s. Closely resembling the original in terms of its proportion, color scheme, and 45″ diameter front wheel (incidentally being the world’s largest to boot), an air-cooled, 80″ cu. Harley-Davidson v-twin Evo engine delivers 60 horses to get you up and around, hitting your stride at 50 mph. Its front wheel will be driven by a chain that is housed in a protective cowling that will replicate the toy’s frame.

With an 8.5 gallon fuel tank that has been integrated into the frame, you get up to 400 miles with this puppy. At that price point, this is a plaything of the uber rich, when you can get an extremely nice car for yourself in exchange.
