Ultra Sound Fog Maker

June 20th, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Ultra Sound Fog MakerWhen you submerge the Ultra Sound Fog Maker in a bowl of water it produces fog (as you could probably of guessed by the name), this could lead to some pretty cool looking ornaments especially if you’re a Harry Potter fan.

The are very few details on how this works or how much fog it produces but it only costs $14 so won’t break the bank to find out. Available Brando who also have a video of it making said fog

Windows Live Messenger - available for download

Windows Live Messenger

Microsoft has finally released the new MSN version and it’s out of beta stage, previously called MSN Messenger 8 beta, now turns into Windows Live Messenger.

To start with, if you’re living in the moon for the past decade and have no idea what MSN Messenger is all about, I’ll give you an idea by saying that it is a “free instant messaging client for Microsoft Windows”.

In other words, it’s a program that lets you chat with your friends online and do a bunch of other things, similar to the cellphones situation in which the main function (make/receive calls, send/receive sms) has been forgotten; the buzz in this case is on the extra features that can take full advantage of what the internet has to offer, and the interaction between users.

So, what’s new on MSN Windows Live Messenger?

Stay Clean with the Tire Condom

June 19th, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Vehicle Gadgets

Flat Tire ConciergeGetting a flat tire is inconvenient at the best of times and often, to add insult to injury, you end up getting your clothes covered in grime while putting on the spare.

Well a solution is at hand via the Flat Tire Concierge, consisting of a mat to kneel on, a pare of rubber gloves and a condom for your tire (or tyre if you want to spell it properly:)).

Seeing with sound headset

June 19th, 2006 by Paz in Audio/Video Gadgets, Tech News

Seeing with sound headset

When I first started writing on this blog one of the things I wrote about is why people have such a passion for gadgets. I argued that people bought gadgets because they wanted either to show off, collect them as fashion accessories, or because they hadn’t lost their childhood love of toys.

I missed one class of gadgets that can fundamentally improve people’s quality of life, and this device would fall into that category. It’s a device that enables blind people to “see” by converting light into an audio signal, which with practice can be heard and interpreted as an “image” of their local environment.

Mind Spa self hypnosis gadget

I’ve seen some of the strangest claims made for gadgets, but I really think this Mind Spa self-hypnosis gadget makes the wackiest claims I’ve ever heard.

But the following is only my opinion, but there’s a link to the product page below and you can have a look and decide for yourself.

Water Saving Urinal

June 19th, 2006 by Al in Home Automation, Miscellaneous Gadgets

Water Saving UrinalWe’ve written about artistic urinals, football urinals and even a urinal containing an LCD to pee on. In our ongoing quest for the coolest urinal we’ve finally come across one that is ecologically friendly.

According to Mister Miser toilet flushing accounts for 40% of domestic water usage. In order to minimise this they’ve come up with a system that only requires 10 ounces of water per flush. I couldn’t find much information on how the technology actually achieves this but as I live in area with a hose pipe at the moment saving water is pretty high on the agenda.

You can get further info (not a lot) and buy online from Mister Miser.

Electronic Finger Drums

June 18th, 2006 by Al in Audio/Video Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

Electronic Drums

I used to play drums when I was younger, I wasn’t particularly good so made up for my lack of musical ability by purchasing an ever growing kit. So even if I sounded crap at least I had about 18 drums to hide behind. Going to the opposite extreme I can now get this nano like finger drum set to annoy my listeners with :).

The Finger Drums are about the size of a mouse mat and can be played by tapping your fingers. The enclosed speaker is supposedly pretty good and will certainly sound better than tapping beer mats in the pub.

If I’d had one of these when I was younger I’d of saved thousands, then again the practice room we hired close to the town centre was priceless in more ways than one :).

You can get the Finger Drums from I Want One of Those.
